Best curling iron ever! Gets really hot and holds its curl! Great for curling longer hair! Takes some practice to get used to it but so worth it!

I have been considering going to cosmetology school and heard from many cosmetology students that using a Marcel curling iron was one of the hardest things to get used to, so I thought I would get one to practice with. For context, I’ve never done well with regular curling irons because my hand/wrist coordination never cooperated and I’d end up more frustrated than anything.I was amazed that after I got the hang of this, it was so easy to use and curl my hair quickly. Because of how a marcel iron is designed, you can do the curling motion without turning your wrist and apparently that was the game changer I needed.Now for this particular curling iron— I love that you can control the temperature. I have fine/thin hair so I don’t need it to be that hot, plus my hair is damaged so I don’t want to fry it off completely. It heats up fairly quickly and is comfortable to hold in my hand. I love the stand, so it doesn’t damage my getting ready table. I always use leave-in conditioner or a hairspray with heat protectant before using it, but it’s easy to clean off any residue from the iron.

First off, if you've never used a Marcel-style iron before, understand it is a bit different. First time I got one it was by accident and if it hasn't been for needing it immediately for an imminent wedding, I probably would have returned it! I'm so glad I didn't because once you adjust to it, you'll never go back. In fact using the old spring-clip style will seem clumsy, unwieldy and SLOW. This particular version has a nice grip, heats up fast, and has a very nice range of temperatures from just hot to VERY hot. I recommend you experiment and use the lowest heat which is effective for your hair type. Also be sure to click the unlock button when you try it the first time or you'll never get the hang if it. Before long you'll be flicking your wrist like a pro, churning out curls in seconds. The other great thing is that it stays consistently hot from one curl to the next, where many irons can't keep up, cooling as you work and taking more seconds per subsequent curl. The 1" barrel is also an excellent size for natural looking not-too-tight, not-too-loose curls. Honestly the only thing I preferred about my 10 year old version was that the cord came out dead center at the base of the iron, while this one is off- center, but please. I bought this curler after using a similar style one at a friend's house. I was overall impressed with the quality of the curler. It heats quickly and maintains its temperature consistently. The setup of the handle and the rotating feature do take some getting used to, but I found that once I adjusted it was actually a far superior way of wrapping my hair onto the iron that saved a good deal of wrist strain. My hair held the curl well and I found the total process took less time once I got used to the handle design. I've owned a few more expensive curling irons and found that this one held up well in comparison. The only con I've found is that the heavier handle can sometimes make balancing the iron on the built-in rest a little precarious. This was easily solved with the use of a silicone mat under the iron so that when it did tip my counter tops were not damaged. The cord is a good length and allows for easy reach for all parts of my hair. I've recommended this iron to a few friends, who also report enjoying the design. I opted for a smaller diameter iron than I usually do because I was finding that my curls were softening a lot as the day went on. Using a smaller diameter solved this issue, as the tighter curls softened to my preferred look as my hair cooled.

I like that the wand spins to keep the cord from twisting and curly up. You may want to use a heat protective glove until you get the hang of using it because there is no cool tip at the end. My hair type is thick and coarse and this iron curls it with ease.

Works great. Like the small curls I get. Live the marcel grip. Can curl very small amounts of hair. Can control the temperature as well.

I believe this had a few negative reviews because it can be difficult for people who aren’t familiar with the marcel style curling iron. Most professionals use marcel curling irons. This isn’t your typical spring curling iron. You have to understand how to use them and know that they work differently.I thought that this was a great value for the money! Works just as well as more higher priced professional marcel irons!Created amazing curls!I highly suggest this curling iron for anyone experienced with a marcel style iron. If you have only used spring curling irons, please know that this isn’t for you unless you are attempting to learn how to use a professional marcel.
