Long winded sales pitch, not a legit book
This "book" contains only enough useful information that if it was condensed, it would be a booklet. I counted 54 testimonials of the author's services and 37 random quotes ranging from Gandhi to Bill Gates scattered throughout the book. Some testimonials have some depth, but some are ridiculously useless like the one from Amhed in Trinidad on page 35 who says, "Visit Dr. Strauss, this practice works" or Patrizia in Italy on page 73 who says, "I am satisfied". Huh?!?!?!! What they serve to do with the formatting used is to fill lots of space and artificially thicken the book. There is a totally useless chapter on medieval torture style devices used to treat scoliosis in years gone by... which does nothing to help me with my child's scoliosis and what to do. Another chapter goes into moderate depth of techniques that the author says don't work and the entire book is full of poorly done illustrations that sometimes have little to nothing to do with the text that goes with it, like the sleeping three armed child on page 110. What are they trying to illustrate about sleeping positions with scoliosis? It isn't explained. It's all fluff for the underlying message that what you do to treat your child's scoliosis is to find Dr. Strauss and likely give him lots of money for his services. Another highlight is the short chapter on clothing choices to mask any body unevenness. I'll summarize it: wear baggy clothing, have your dress hems tailored to appear even and carry a large bag to mask uneven hips. CARRY A BAG. Advice from a doctor on how to mask scoliosis. Might as well have told me to put my child in a potato sack. No thought on the effect of uneven weight pushing on the shoulders of someone with scoliosis by carrying this extra prop, but what do I know? One chapter gave advice on what yoga poses not to do, which was helpful, but to find out what exercises could help reduce curvature, you have to go see Dr. Strauss. What would have really helped would have been references to articles and proven studies that saw a significant reduction in scoliosis curved spines with the exercises and methods that the author/doctor was promoting. Dr. Strauss goes into the evils of the traditional and widespread treatment of scoliosis by the medical community at large and the horror stories of surgery gone wrong with implanted hardware breaking later on. The villainization doesn't help win over skeptics (like my husband) who have faith in traditional medicine or help in raising confidence in alternate treatments for your child. I would have loved to have spent money on a book that could have actually helped me navigate my options by giving me unbiased facts about the pros, cons and risks of all treatments available. It could have provided search criteria to find competent physical therapists like what training and certificates to look for, set general expectations of improvement in curvature with physical therapy so I know if it's working or not and gone into descriptions of the various modern therapies and bracing (those were glossed over in one paragraph), pointing out the similarities, differences and what scoliosis nuances they are best suited for. Even if I was considering Dr. Strauss's services before reading this book, I feel like the over the top blatant pitch that I foolishly paid for was such a turn off that I'd be looking for a doctor who focuses more on his clients instead of putting effort into writing a sales pitch disguised as helpful information for families struggling to understand and navigate treatment choices for their child.

I thought this book was excellent in covering everything from information on results of surgery ...
I have scoliosis and have been treated at a CLEAR clinic. I thought this book was excellent in covering everything from information on results of surgery and bracing to clothes that are most helpful to what exercises can be a problem for those with scoliosis. While I have learned much of the content in the book from my own life experience over the years (I am 67 years old, scoliosis diagnosed 50 years ago) and from the care I have received at the CLEAR clinic the last 8 years, this was a wonderful compilation of information (and I learned some new things as well).

Great book. I know Dr
Great book. I know Dr. Andrew Strauss on a professional level. We trained together doing non-surgical scoliosis treatment. Dr Strauss travels all over the world always searching and learning the most recent and advanced information and technology on non-surgical scoliosis treatment. I have seen him first hand treating his patient with scoliosis and getting amazing results. This book is clearly written for parents to easily understand about their options and how their kids can benefit spinal rehab vs medical approach of wait and see, bracing and spinal surgery. I strongly encourage parents to read this book and make informed decision on their children's scoliosis care.

A wonderful resource for scoliosis
Dr. Andrew Strauss has written an extremely useful and well documented book on Scoliosis. It is clear, concise and as an educational tool, extremely useful. His knowledge and experience demonstrate quality and thoroughness, but most importantly, it creates a partnership with his patient and their families that is obviously collaboratiive. The only concern that I have is his blanket statement that Homeooathy is not effective. In fact rigorous research for example, the recent exhaustive study by the Swiss Government concludes otherwise. In short, I agree with Dr. Strauss that good quality holistic healing modes can complement each other. I highly recommend this very informative and well written book and certainty will keep it on my shelf. Reviewed by Dr. Kenneth Silvestri ([...])

AMAZING BOOK! AMAZING DOCTOR!
Growing up, I remember my mother having a lot of pain from scoliosis. So when my daughter started showing a curve in her back I was very concerned. I knew I had to do whatever I could to help prevent her condition from getting worse. Dr. Strauss was the answer! Within several weeks of adjustments and specially developed exercises she began to show definite signs of solid improvement! Dr. Strauss and his office staff are kind, warm and very professional. Thank G-d, I was able to give my daughter this option!Understandably, I was excited when this book came out! It is well written and very informative. Knowledge is power! This book gives people the knowledge of the treatments that are available and the benefits and risks associated with them. A must read for anyone with scoliosis!

One of the most important books written on child scoliosis.
Dr. Strauss’ book is a very well organized body of work that challenges the mainstream notions of scoliosis intervention. The book is engaging, informative, and most importantly, it offers real hope. It breaks new ground, and it allows parents to make better sense of the complexities of their child’s scoliosis. In health care, we need doctors that push the envelope when it comes to digging deeper to finding the true underlying cause of the problem and resolving it. I believe that this book represents a new standard in non-invasive scoliosis care, and if your child has scoliosis, I believe that you would be wise to read this book and use it as a guide. You could very well be saving your child from unnecessary surgery.

Great Read
This book is very informative about scoliosis, potential causes, treatment options, etc. Since my sons diagnosis, I have searched high and low for any information I could find. This book answered so many questions for me and gave me hope that he didn’t have to suffer through bracing and potential surgery.
