Haier HUM013EA 1-2/7-Cubic-Foot Compact Space-Saver Upright Freezer

I needed a small freezer for storing excess frozen blueberries from a bulk purchase so after researching different makes and models, I finally decided to purchase the Haier mini-freezer from Amazon. Amazon offered free shipping and the price of the unit was $20 cheaper than my local walmart and target. It was very good customer service for Fedex sending two employees to deliver the mini-freezer so it arrived in excellent condition even though the way the mini-freezer was packaged from Haier was the worst I've ever encountered. There was absolutely no foam or packing material to protect the unit and after cutting one plastic strap the card board box fell apart. After inspecting the unit for damage, I found one small dent near the top-right of the freezer door (See the images that I've posted above). I proceeded to follow the instruction booklet and plugged it in. I filled the mini-ice tray (Included with the unit) with water and left it in the freezer. Two hours later I checked to make sure the unit was still working and noticed the water had already frozen so now I have mini-ice cubes ^_^ I thought it would be helpful to include the mini-freezers interior measurements for usable space: I've measured the freezers interior top half at 15 inches wide with a depth of 12 inches, while below the removable wire shelf the bottom half measures 15 inches wide with a depth of only 7 inches (Usable space is lost due to the units motor).Pros-The unit is very quiet.It looks nice and the handle is built into the top of the door.The hinge can be moved to the opposite side depending on which way you prefer the door to open.It has a switch in the back which allows temperature adjustment from 1-7 (I have it set on 4).It has a removable wire rack inside the freezer.Cons-Some of the space in the lower section of the freezer is lost to the units motor.I'm very happy so far with my purchase and recommend this mini-freezer to anyone that needs a little additional freezer space, but keep in mind there is a high percentage chance it will arrive with a dent >_<.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS...I purchased this freezer to store extra breast milk. The reviews were mixed but I thought I would give the product the benefit of the doubt because it is the perfect size and priced well. Our freezer arrived and as soon as I opened the box I could tell it had been used and was someone else's return. The top of the freezer was dented in the corner and there were scratches all over the top. Needless to say I closed the box and went to Amazon returns. I requested a replacement hoping that I just got a dud. The return process was of course wonderful. My new freezer arrived and we opened it hoping it was what we needed. Opened and removed from the box and the door was broken. At this point I was done. I'm sad to think that amazon is shipping other people's returns. I hope this isn't the direction of Amazon. If you decide to order this product I hope you don't receive either of the freezers that were sent to me.

I bought one of these last year so that I can stock up on frozen goods, and it's better than I expected! I cook lots of winter squash soup when the butternut squash is in season, and after cooking up 30 pounds of winter squash and adding soup ingredients and pureeing the results, I end up with gallons and gallons of delicious soup that I freeze for future delicious meals! Mmmmm! Problem is, my side-by-side refrigerator-freezer doesn't have enough room to freeze all this stuff.Now I've ordered **another** one of these little beauties! So handy! When I don't need extra freezer space, I simply unplug the little freezer. Perfect!Outstanding features of this freezer:-- Even though it's small, it maintains a steady interior temperature of 20 degrees below zero Fahrenheit at the coldest setting of 7 (on a scale of 1 to 7).-- It's quiet! Quieter than my energy-efficient side-by-side refrigerator-freezer, a top-of-the-line Jenn-Air.-- It's manual defrost. Why is this important? Automatic defrost periodically raises the freezer temperature, which risks ruining the freezer contents. Worse, automatic defrost cycles are infamous for requiring expensive maintenance and repairs when they fail to operate properly. When that happens, you're stuck. Then you have to remove **all** the frozen goods and manually defrost the freezer before it will work properly. Huge pain! Never, NEVER will I buy an automatic defrost freezer again.-- It's conveniently small. When I don't need extra freezer space, I simply stash this little freezer out of the way. I can lift and move this wee appliance without assistance, even though I'm over 65 years old. The freezer is lightweight enough to sit, fully loaded, on a little folding table. Perfect for flexible use of household space!-- The price. You can't beat the price, anywhere!

I wanted a small freezer because I have limited space... and this thing is very small. I am going to say it provides about 1/2 the space as a regular sized home refrigerator freezer does. An upright this small is very inconvenient (in my opinion) because you cannot take advantage of all of the space without things falling out. As for the operation... so far on # 4 on the dial everything I have put in it has stayed frozen solid. I have a whole chicken, Four 1 lb packages of hamburger, a 2 pound pork loin roast, two "super saver packs" of chicken wings and a couple of other small items in it right now and there is really not much room for anything else. *But*... that is perfect for me. I wanted a freezer to store meat in and this fits the bill.One thing I have noticed that is a disappointment is how often this thing comes on. It runs a lot more than I thought something this small would, and that is unfortunate. Also, the door on it fits relatively tight, but seems pretty flimsy (to me anyway).If you need just that little bit of extra freezer space and you are limited for living space and don't have a large family I think this small Haier (pronounced like "higher") freezer is a great choice.

We searched EVERYWHERE for a freezer this size. Although it was a little out of our price range, it was worth every penny. Perfect for people who have limited space!

It arrived promptly, and is perfect for the extra little bit of freezer room I need for my apt. It seems to hum a bit loudly at times. But over all I would recommend it.
