Simple easy to read advice
Simple easy to read advice. Its ok for a novice. Not that useful if you are in deep on your issues. Could use details on best way to select an attorney and plan for your first meetings and/or initial consultation.

Informative, reader friendly
I was informed at my teaching position that "You're too old to work here". Being 66 and highly credentialed, I did not expect this sudden turn of events. My most recent employer and student evaluation rated me as "one of the top professors". This book by Donna Ballman taught me to weigh the burden of a court case versus looking for another position. The book, which I read quickly in a few sittings, gave me confidence and direction. It was well developed with scenarios for several situations. On Page 192, scenario 3 addressed my situation. The university, my director indicated, is looking for a younger image. I enjoy a "protected" category (like an Elk or sea turtle) so I do have rights!Hope this will help others. Life is precarious and we benefit from knowledge.

Inspired
The advice the author gave was really thoughtful and helpful. Fortunately, it made me come to realize I want to work for myself - I'm starting my own business. Thanks for the extra push Donna!

Great Plain Language Advice!
I work in the non-profit employment sector and am responsible for training job seekers about interviewing, job seeking and how to keep their jobs. I read her blog every time she post a new entry, which is why I bought the book; and I have to say, it's an easy read and well worth it. I really enjoy her plain language writing style, she translates complex law in to terms a layman can understand and gives absolutely excellent advice for how to handle difficult employment situations. I strongly recommend the book, whether you are an employee or a business owner, it will be money well spent.

Not worth the money
It's all basic common sense. Spend a little time on your own researching on the internet and you could write this book yourself. Very disappointing.

Very informative and helpful
This book was extremely helpful. It wasn't the answer I was hoping to hear in a very stressful situation, but the information was solid and I was able to make an action plan based on what I read.I strongly recommend this book to anyone who thinks they may be harassed at work or in a hostile environment. The legal definitions of these terms are vastly different from the laypersons' definitions. This book helps sort that out.

Good informative book
Good information. However, most of if not all the info contained in this book can be found on the Internet for free.

Thisb book is for the American Market
This book is for the American market! It was full of good information but for the AMERICAN market! I would not have wasted my money if I knew it was for the Amercian market. This lady knows her stuff as she has got a large Tweeter following. The book is a good step by step giude about employment law. This book would have been good for some one that wants to bit a large company on the arss! I want to say I bought this for christmas for a friend but I wanted to read a bit of it first. I am glad I did. I would like some one to write a book this good for the English Employment Law. That would be worth buying. If I was an American I would have given this book 5 stars but I am in England uk.
