Another good read....
I love Kristen Ashley, she writes great books. This was the first book I read in the unfinished series. I hesitated starting any of these books because I'm not into really kinky sex, and most of the reviews mentioned these books being really kinky.Anyway, I don't know how KA does it, she writes it and draws you into the story, and suddenly when things get kinky, it's like okay, I can see how that could happen. (Not to me, lol, but it works for these characters) Still not my favorite thing to read about, or even think about some aspects of it...(like anal plugs... um, NO!) but overall it was a great book.I loved Deacon & Cassie, and enjoyed their rocky road to HEA. It was an easy read. As always, the words and story flow. I bought Raid's book, can't wait to start reading it.

Alright
3.75 StarsThis one started off so good and I was really enjoying it and then it ventured where it did not need to go and lost the mojoIt is heavily relationship based as we only see things from when Deacon is with Cassidy so any time he was off working is not shown until the very end. This worked for me. I enjoyed seeing the relationship evolve as they got to know each other over the years as he kept returning to her cabins.I loved Cassidy and the fact that she was a strong woman without being made unlikable. She worked hard for what she wanted and I liked that she didn’t take anything for granted. She didn’t let Deacon pay for things and fix things around the cabins until they discussed and worked it out between them.Deacon was a quiet man so getting to know him was harder, but I did like him. He didn’t waste words and talk rubbish. He explained what he needed without being a jerk. Although without seeing his work side he doesn’t really come across as a badass to me. His past was horrific and part of me wonders why he blamed himself for it when he did everything he could to change it. I loved his friendships with the crew. It was also fantastic to see Daisy again.I totally understood Cassidy and her reasons for the break. He had a lot of secrets and she went with it and accepted him as he was but sometimes you need reassurance and he didn’t give it to when she asked. At this point it was still working for me. It stopped working when they got back together. One song does not change anything, I don’t care what the lyrics are. She went from get out of my house to stripping off her clothes and getting into bed with him, nope. They did at least talk about their problems the next morning and his past was laid out for her, but at that point she had already taken him back.I’m also a fan of kink in a lot of different forms, I read a lot of different genres, but I don’t like kink when it’s placed in a book just for the sake of it, which it felt like here. I was fine with them tying each other up and exploring with each other but there was no need to go where it went with Deacon, he showed absolutely no inclination or desire to go there before that. That brought my rating down. And on to Nick’s book, one I’ll be honest I’m not looking forward to but want to complete the series

Love Love Love!
Cassidy has always dreamed of owning remote cabins in Colorado. Her dream has finally become a reality, but her boyfriend would rather drink and ski with the locals then help her fix the cabins. She finally has had enough, and she kicks him out. Deacon is a regular at the cabins. While the interaction between Deacon and Cassidy usually only consists of room rates, there has always been an attraction there. Once they finally give in, Cassidy tries so hard to connect with Deacon. No matter how hard she tries to get him to give her more of himself, he fights it. When Cassidy finds out one of his secrets, she gives him an ultimatum and he does not choose to open up to her. While this destroyed them both, it took that to get him to finally face everything from his past and give Cassidy all of him.First, what happened with Deacon’s wife was horrible. I could not imagine my spouse having an addiction that would take it to that level. It sickens me to know her family and friends kept her past from him and that he had to ruin himself to try to save her. For him to finally find her like that, it was heartbreaking. I love reading stories where you do not get both person’s POV. It helps build the story for the reader. That night he was in her kitchen when she got home, that was hot! I have to say of all the books I have read, these two have the craziest sex life. Not only was it hot but the different things they do is up there with the Fifty Shades Trilogy. They will make you think about trying new things in your own bedroom. Another great book by Kristen Ashley!

Love Deacon
I was excited to meet Deacon after reading Raid I knew that Deacon was a troubled man in a dark place. It was going to take a strong woman to pull him from his darkness and help him see the light again and without a doubt Cassidy was that woman.I adored listening to this book from the very first word to the last. I was captivated by Deacon’s story, and I hated having to hit the pause button when life got in the way.Deacon and Cassidy’ story was a moving and touching read. The story was well paced there wasn’t any major tense drama, and it wasn’t needed as it was more about the relationship between Deacon and Cassidy. It didn’t take me long to fall in love with Deacon. He was the strong, dark, silent, and brooding type of man. I loved Cassidy she was a strong independent woman who took no s***. It was evident that Deacon and Cassidy had a deep and strong connection it was one that wasn't forced.I loved the romance, the humor, the banter, the intense, and the heartbreaking times Deacon and Cassidy shared. Oh and let's not forget the steamy sex scenes just as expected they were hot hot hot!! Deacon like the rest of the Unfinished Hero’s’ know how to please a lady.A snippet at the end with the return of Knight, Creed, Raid and Marcus made me very excited for the final book in the Unfinished Hero’s series Nick Sebring’s story. I’m not a fan of this character, but I have a feeling that by the end of his story KA in her flawless writing is I going to make me love him. When I come to the end of a KA book, I always wish I had read it sooner and when it last book in the series the hardest part is what series to next. However having looked on KA website I’m moving on to the Colorado Mountain series starting with The Gamble. I realised at the end of Deacon I should have read before starting the Unfinished Hero series, but oh well not much I can do it now. I'm excited to meet Max and Nina.#AlphaBliss#ListeningBliss#KABliss

Love story with sex
This is a love story, how two people meet, are attracted, have misunderstandings and learn how to talk to each other. This is Deacon and Cassie's story. It's an unusual book for Kristen as she normally has so much going on in them, it's hard to catch your breath. Even though this is the same series as Creed and Knight, the spark's just not there. There is mention of characters from Kristen's other books, we hear about Wood in passing, we meet Raid and Hanna, Knight and Anya, Creed and Sylvie but very briefly, even Marcus and Daisy Sloan. Otherwise it's really just the build up to Deacon and Cassidy's relationship and how their past can determine the future.I liked it - I didn't love it. It's well written but not a patch on her earlier books. This review actually didn't post yesterday due to internet problems and I've since looked at other reviews. I have to agree with the reviewer that said since she's got her publishing deal, her books have changed. They have. They're over edited and the spontaneity seems to have disappeared. There is sex in it, some that may offend, but it seemed to be a duty not a joy.Suitable for older readers due to content

Loved it. Loved
Loved it. Loved, loved, loved it. Okay so it wasn't jam packed with suspense, intrigue and action but then again her past few books haven't been. What this one had that knocked bells off The Promise (which let me down horribly) was the fantastic character and relationship building. This one had it in spades.I wasn't too sure at the very beginning with all the time lapses, but by 21% in I was crying. Cassie really pulled at my heartstrings. She was also snarky, funny, patient, forgiving, compassionate, letting him go only to welcome him back no questions asked at the beginning because it was what he needed, just sheer awesomesauce.Loved Deacon too (before he pulled his sh*t for brains moment). He gave her everything she needed ..... until the SFB moment which was epic and totally destroyed Cassie. This leads me to feeling let down by the length of time it took him to get his act together after this. That said, I could not knock a star off, I loved the rest of the book that much, including the epilogue.I loved how they completed each other, totally. For me, a totally swoonworthy KA super-read.

Great character, but not such a great story
I've been saving this one for a while as a treat, but I haven't had a bar of chocolate for five long days (IK,R!!!) and it was either Deacon or a Double Decker so in the end it was an easy choice.I love KA's unfinished Heroes series; the ultimate alphas operating in the grey of the law, saving damsels in distress while carrying around giant chips on their ripped and rugged shoulders that some cute yet gawjus young woman has to work through to bring them back from the dark side. Bloody love them and Deacon himself was no exception. The story, I didn't love so much, but Deacon, yes.So at the start Cassie has bought some run down holiday cabins just next to the river in the Colorado Mountains and she's determined to build up a business. Every year for the next six years "John Priest" comes along and rents cabin 11. She suspects that's not his real name but she looks forward to his sporadic visits, each time babbling away to him about the improvements she's made to the cabins. She even decorates cabin 11 in a rough and ready, masculine style in honour of her favourite guest. Meanwhile Deacon remains all sullen and brooding and hawt. This shouldn't work but actually it was fantastic to read, building the anticipation so well. And even though lots of time passes between each meeting and they only spend a few moments together each time and Deacon himself barely utters a word, that tension is sizzling and zipping nicely between them.Cassie is the sole narrator up until around 75%, so I loved that we only got to learn about Deacon from her observations, he was a true mystery. We only get Deacon's pov once they get together and this worked so well as a way of ramping up the tension and the anticipation.Eventually, Deacon is there at the right moment to rescue Cassie from a dangerous situation and all of that sexual tension explodes into some gloriously hot smut. Perfect payoff, I was hooked. He's still cagey with her, but he tells her his real name, but warning her that nobody else can know him by that name. He also reveals more about his nomadic lifestyle over the years and admits how he feels about her. Again, fantastic, loved it.As they get to know one another, they spend time together arguing about household chores and who pays for groceries. Luckily, Deacon prevented this from becoming a bore by being all alpha protector and bossy and, as an added bonus, he has a side of kink. Happy days.Where the story began to get a little disappointing for me was 'the conflict'. I'm used to drama and angst and a plot that unravels slowly so that you eventually learn the true purpose and motivation of each character but actually in this, 'the conflict' was shocking but there wasn't much plot substance or any peril there really and I wasn't gripping my kindle and my heart wasn't racing, I was just....oh, is that it?And the resolution for that conflict left me feeling a little bit unsettled too. Would Deacon really do that? Really? It seemed to me an odd way to resolve things.I was hoping the epilogue would lift me up again and while a couple of things got me all emotional, I wasn't left with the usual 'high'. I don't know, perhaps it's me.Deacon is a great character and on the whole I really enjoyed this. Something was a little off with the lack of drama that prevented this from being a really fantastic read, but I'd still recommend it.

best of the series so far.
This is my favourite in the series, loved Deacon, his bossiness, his controlled demeanour, he's gentle caring and utter devotion to his Cassie. So much emotion in this book, but it's played out beautifully that it just takes you in and wants you to stay, hence why it's 4:00am and I've just finished it!, I know that this series the men are more unfinished and I knew that going in but I was surprised with the sex scenes, quite full on and went where I never expected, but it was different to read about a man being vulnerable in the bedroom, quite refreshing actually. Loads of tender moments which ms Ashley is unbelievable at, sweetness, kindness but still badass, works for me. I nice surprise is that the other unfinished heroes pop up to, Raid, Knight and Creed, also a semi rock chick in Daisy, I loved her and Marcus but what i was really happy about looks like Nick Knights brother gets a story too, rock on!
