Field of Glory Napoleonic: Wargaming Rules for Napoleonic Tabletop Gaming Version 2

Beautiful book, very effectively ordered and laid out. I had no trouble understanding the rules despite having never played first edition. Very clever set-up phase, almost like it's own mini-game, that works as a scenario and terrain generator, and also ensures that no two battles are exactly alike. Never seen anything like it in a miniatures game. Hats off to both the original authors and to the two authors of the update - they've done a terrific job.

The new version is easier to read and faster to play than the previous edition. The new setup options make for interesting games.

Bought these rules on the basis that it would cover a period beginning with the French Revolution from 1792. Having examined them and read the design notes, I could find little that suggested they would be suitable for the early French Revolution.
