Description

R J Mitchell's first design for Supermarine, the Walrus was operated by the Fleet Air Arm, RAF, RAAF, RNZN, RCAF, and RNZAF. Perhaps surprisingly it was the first British squadron-service aircraft to incorporate a fully-retractable main undercarriage, completely enclosed crew accommodation, and having an all-metal fuselage.
