Brother FAX4100E IntelliFax Plain Paper Laser Fax/Copier

AFTER I BOUGHT THE FAX MACHINE FROM HARD TO FIND ELECTRONICS AND RECEIVED IT, I REALIZED i DID NOT NEED IT. I WAS VERY BUSY WITH MY BUSINESS ...AND BY THE TIME I DECIDED TO RETURN THE FAX MACHINE,,,MORE THAN 5 MONTHS HAD ELAPSED. AMAZON HAS A 30 DAY RETURN POLICY. I CONTACTED HARD TO FIND ELECTRONICS. WENDELL AT THE COMPANY READ MY REQUEST TO RETURN THE FAX MACHINE AND WORKED WITH ME TO GET THE FAX MACHINE SENT BACK TO HIS BUSINESS VIA UPS....AND THEN REFUNDED ME FAIRLY FOR THE RETURN TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE RESTOCKING FEE. I decided to buy this fax machine for my office based on the price and functionality. I work at a college where the faculty can often have a hard time using simple equipment, I think their brains are wired more towards higher level tasks. This fax machine is the first they have not broken in their attempt to use it.The controls are very easy to use and intuitive. I have had a few people send blank faxes because they did not realize that the paper needed to be face up, but that was easily fixed with a p-touch label saying "face up please" :)This machine is also very quiet which is important because it sits right outside my door all day. Our previous machine used to beep all day for some unknown reason and we were never able to get it to stop. This machine only makes minimal noise when it is actually printing.I also appreciate the fact that the buttons are big and color coded. This makes it much easier for my office to use. The prints are clear and the toner seems to last a very long time. We receive "spam" faxes pretty much every day (about 2 or 3 pages per day) and actual faxes maybe once a week. At this level of use we replace the toner maybe once a year.I would highly recommend this fax machine.

This does not allow for the paper to come out so when copying, one can turn the paper around and place it back on the printer side so the copy can be finished on both sides. It was my issue as I didn't read the specifications as well as I should have. I had another Brother that lasted 15 years. This one so far seems to be good and sturdy and it is user friendly as well

I ordered this fax machine for the small business that employs me after our old one started having problems despite service. The old machine was nearly 10 years old and an older version of the IntelliFax model. However, it had proven reliable and user-friendly over the years so we chose to replace it from within the Brother family of fax machine products. After a month of use, I can safely say that the transition from one machine to the other was practically seamless, with only the minimal downtime as one machine was replaced with the other causing notice. This fax machine does what the old one did, only better and with more options. There have been no complaints from the rest of the office in regards to efficiency or ease of use. If you are considering this machine for a small office, I highly recommend it.

Reliable workhorse. Better than previous version (1400).

The fax machine came with NO TONER, NO DRUM, NO INSTRUCTION SHEET AND NO CD WITH DRIVERS. Also some small parts that control the paper sheets did not come.It is a HIGH price for an item that is not complete.BEWARE BEFORE YOU BUY THIS ITEM

I have just purchased my second one of these, after owning an identical model for the last six years. The old machine is still functioning, but is clearly getting ready to retire soon. I was delighted to see that this model is still being made by Brother, and did not hesitate to purchase another.The old machine has printed literally thousands upon thousands (very possibly hundreds of thousands) of great quality pages, being used everyday in a busy office environment. The quality of print is very consistent. It has also been used extensively as a fax machine, with zero problems. The punishment that this machine can take is quite amazing, and I love the way that it hooks up easily to my PC via USB.I absolutely would not hesitate to recommend this product. Very easily five stars.

Apparently there is NO way to disable "Sleep Mode". You can set the timer to 99 minutes, but after that, you're back to round one again. It goes into sleep mode to save power, but they apparently have an issue with waking up. There is a generic answer found by searching the web, but once you set it the way they tell you, it still doesn't work. I miss faxes constantly. The only way to get the machine to work when it enters sleep mode, is to pull the power plug and reset it. Not much use if you are not available to do so upon receiving a fax.It works well when it works, and the copier is a nice function, but overall, the sleep mode ruins it when it comes to sending and receiving faxes.UPDATE 8.29.13The sleep mode is the killer on this thing. I have discovered another issue with it. You have to go into maintenance mode and set the baud rate down to 9600 in order to get it to work on VOIP. Otherwise it will screw the packets all up and your faxes will fail. I have only used VOIP with it, and I have a LOT of trouble with it.UPDATE 9.18.13I have concluded that this fax machine is the biggest turd I have ever seen, and I have dumped my review all the way down to one single star. I would give it no stars if the option were available. I am lucky to get a fax to go out once in a hundred tries. I consistently get "Poor Line Condition" back on my report. It simply won't send anything much more than one page at a time. I am going to sell the damn thing and buy a scanner and send my faxes via a fax service. This Brother fax machine is ridiculous. I don't have time to stand over it for 4 hours just to get a page or two to go through.Buy it at your own risk. Don't say I didn't warn you.
