Flawless, I Run This All Afternoon with NO Dropouts
I use this on an Altec-Lansing speaker unit that has the 30-pin plug, design for you to sit your old iPhone or iPod on it. That unit sounds really good with its subwoofer so I hated losing the ability to use it with the new iPhones. Popping on the CoolStream is now a dream come true. Connects right up and does what it's supposed to. You will need one of the older 30-pin cables to charge this unit off of any USB port or even the Apple charger, but if you don't have one of those older cables laying around, you can pretty much find those in the impulse aisles for 5 bucks in every store from Walgreens to Ace Hardware, they're all over the place. One thing I want to mention: I had a problem one day where the music would cut out and come back on every 3 seconds or so. That happened with another BluTooth adapter I tried, I thought it was the adapter. Not so, it's the BAD memory management in the iPhone. They only come with 1GB ram, and often most of that gets used up. I have an app that shows available ram and it's usually down to 6-10MB available (not a typo) with only a few apps open. So I cleared my memory, tried playing music again and it worked fine all afternoon. So if you have that issue, close your apps, but the important one is to close ALL PAGES in Safari before you close Safari. If you just swipe up Safari to close it, all of your open web pages stay in memory and eat it up. I'm pretty ticked, $950 for an iPhone 6 Plus with 128GB storage and STILL only 1GB ram? ASpple has no excuse and it's not like they can't afford to up the ram in these things. ANYWAY, this CoolStream is awesome and make sure you have apps closed down once you start streaming with BT and it'll work great.

CoolStream Duo Bluetooth adapter
With broad range of offerings for Bluetooth receivers, selection of the good one may be difficult. CoolStream stands out from the crowd in few ways:- compact. You do not get wires, power adapters tangled around - just ~1.5 in square unit itself.- easy to connect. Both iOS and android devices see it immediately and pair within couple of seconds- easy of use. With multiple phones/tablets you may want to connect, switching from one phone to a different one may be an issue - devices do not pick the right one when you turn them on, so you have to grab the "wrong" phone, disconnect bluetooth device there, than connect from the phone you intended to use. With CoolStream, as long as no other device actually plays music via CoolStream, you can go ahead and start playing.- reception range. Out of 3 "current" devices I have recently purchased and 2 older generation ones, CoolStream definitely strongest in this respect: being placed at far end of the house it gets signal from any point of 1500sf house, from as far as 50 ft with no line of sight (there are 2-3 walls in between phone and receiver). After seeing other BT receivers dropping signal from 20 ft with minimal blockage of the line of sight, this is pretty impressive.I did not observe any disadvantage so far, beside it requires 30 pin Apple connector to sit on - so you need an appropriate "host" device (or adapter cable which kind of defeats the purpose of being free of wires ).CoolStream has ability to connect to any device via plain audio cable and work from the built-in rechargeable battery, but I had no chance to test how well it works. Sound quality via 30-pin adapter is great as expected - but it is all digital so no surprises here.Overall, highly recommend despite some price premium - it does worth extra $$.

This is a great thoughtful product
This is a great thoughtful product! As I person who is so tired of products where the engineers did not make the user convenience the utmost priority, I really really appreciate the attention to detail in this. I know there are a lot of other reviews for this and I don't have time to check for consistency, but just one quick point:The audio output is killer for my application -- getting an old 2006 Scion Xb ipod dock (which does not support streaming audio input) to nevertheless act as a charger for the blue-tooth receiver, so that i can feed the streaming audio from BT though the "aux" input, thus eliminating the need for one more annoying cig-lighter charger, and allowing the receiver to be neatly tucked under the driver's seat :) the included 3.5mm audio patch cable is trim and light and exactly the right length for this awkward scion ipod cable. The other features are also a nice bonus:- rechargeable battery with fully automatic charging from either 5v or 12 v.- power switch to prevent draining battery - does not interfere with charging when "on"- seamless automatic pairing and support for two simultaneous bluetooth connections,Note this is just for playback, not a headset-style thing so there is no bluetooth mic input for telephone use.The only thing it's lacking is some kind of miraculous ability to make my iphone 6 appear like it's an ancient ipod from 10 years ago, and serve up playlists from spotify as if they were albums.... That would be truly mind-blowing! But then my mind would be blown, and I would be unable to write this review.
