More of a groove cleaner than a sharpener
While there is some abrasive on the sides of the tool, it really does not do a great job of "sharpening" grooves but it does clean out and refresh the groove a little. I do notice a difference so I suppose there the some element of sharpening but don't expect anything drastic. It is very inexpensive, compact and solidly built. It is worth putting in the bag with all your other golf stuff you rarely use. :) just kidding. It is worth the investment and you will use it from time to time.
