Does multi regions very well.
This recorder has no inputs, except a USB slot. This for playing media stored on USB thumbdrive ormedia such as an external hardrive or external disc drivethat has a USB out which will plug into this players USB in slot. The USB slot is on the front panel. It has no HDMI out.No digital coax out.No RF (modulator) out.Yes it has one component out (red, yellow, white RCA jacks). It does all regions very well.It does NTSC and PAL very well (any region for either NTSC or PAL).Which means that it does play European/British PAL region 2 discs, such as those sold on Amazon UK.By the way, I have tried several regions with both NTSC and PAL and this unit played them all withoutany issues at all. For instance it played a PAL disc on an NTSC TV without any problem whatsoever. It has easy menu and very good remote with lots of buttons. It uses one AA battery in the remote. It has no controls on the main box, all controls are on the remote (even power on/off).It has either European or American wall plug (mains). The Euro plug is permanently attached to the cable which will plug into the wall (euro plug),and an American adaptor plugs onto that plug, and then plugs into the wall.It will run 120 or 220 volts. The interface on the remote is very well done. All printed documentation and on screen menus are in Spanish.English users manual is available online at sony, easy to find.To change the onscreen menus to English (or Spanish/Portuguese/French). *(see footnote below)On the main screen with nothing playing, push 'display', then the toolbox icon, then rapido (quick), and chose English. Immediately the menus onscreen change to English and will remain English until you change it here back to another language. Turning the player on and off will still leave it English until you change it manually.A very good player for the money, easy to use, and plays all discs I can throw at it.Also, some brands of players are finicky about which discs will play according to how scratched up they are.But this player is very forgiving, if a disc will play on any player I have seen, then it will play on this. The picture quality is top quality Standard Definition. It plays as well as any of the many I've seen. Except for Blu-Ray players of course. The lack of component out (blue, green, red) does not degrade the picture (which comes thru composite (red, yellow, white). Really a nice player in all respects. The only 'con' for me is the lack of an disc eject button on the main box (only the remote). If you misplace the remote you would have no easy way to get the disc inside the unit out.manual: http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/4447477311.pdf* I see that if 'display' , and then 'custom' instead of 'quick' (rapido), you will have a choice of over 150 languages that the onscreen menu can display, instead of just 4. See the online manual (printed manual in .pdf format) for complete list of languages, and language code numbers.

Sony All Multi Region Zone Code DVD Player with USB Input 110/240 Volt Free Tmvel Plug Adapter - Tmvel
Sony All Multi Region Zone Code DVD Player. Item was ordered from Zenbuy and shipped by Amazon (free shipping). Ordered Friday Aug 29, and item was delivered on Tues Sept 2. That's only 4 calendar days--FAST! Packaging was excellent and item in perfect condition. About this Sony DVD Player: This is a small compact player. Although inexpensive, the quality appears fine and player was easy to set up. The owner manual is in Spanish, however any person of average intelligence can get around that. (Just use Google Translate, translate text). NOTE: this player has the Euro style plug (round prongs), but the little adapter for USA plug IS IN THE BOX (look for it). Also included is the red/yellow/white audio/video cable. The included remote is marked in English and is easy to use, a normal type remote. Setting up the player is easy--turn it on and from the start screen, just choose the menu language (can be set to English), and choose the screen aspect ratio (4:3 or 16:9). That's it--put in your DVD and enjoy. Other features can be accessed on the menu, of course. The DVD player is quiet, is not noisy. So far, I have played a UK zone 2 DVD. Playback is fine, no problems, all normal. I am very pleased so far. If any problems are encountered, I will update this review at a later date.

Now I can enjoy my European dvds again... :)
After my move to the states I was for some time looking out for a region free dvd player. After unpacking and connecting this player, it took a little to figure out how to change the language on the player from Spanish (?) to English and then I immediately tried if it plays my European (PAL2) and my American dvds. The player had no problems with playing my first European PAL2 dvd but then rejected my first American dvd. After I tried out if it would play other European dvds, I put again an American dvd in - this time it had no problems at all. Fortunately I had no problems with my European nor my American dvds since then. The dvd player is rather small and compact and doesn't take much space away - like promised it came with a plug converter and though I was concerned first, it works very well - a good product for a good price.I wish I had found it already some months ago - but now I can enjoy my European dvds again as well as my American ones and that is all that counts... :)

Works well, with some minor issues.
I bought this DVD player so I could save some money on anime by importing the really expensive ones (When They Cry, R.O.D the TV, and hopefully Madoka Magica in the future). However, it isn't perfect, so here are some of my issues with this player. When thin lines show up on the screen, most noticably with my Region 1 DVDs, it tries to refine it even more, resulting in a long string of pixels instead of a straight line. I noticed this happening with my other region DVDs, as well, but it wasn't as common. On top of that, the player makes some really scary grinding noises when the discs are spinning, but they always come out just as pristine as they were when they were inserted into the player. Also, when I first tried to play my When They Cry DVDs, they wouldn't work. I had to set the region standard under the parental controls to "Australia" before they would play, even though I made sure that the parental controls were turned off. I'm not sure if it's becase they're Region 4 DVDs, or if it's because the show is incredibly violent and disturbing. My Region 2 DVDs still played just fine with the standard set to Australia. Also, the controller it comes with doesn't have a mute button on it, but that's an even more minor grievance that's easily dealt with. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase because it's saved me about $400 already, and I'm sure it'll save me a lot more!
