Great for bigger, shorthaired dogs.
I got this for my very short haired mutt after we moved to the country. He was coming into the house with ticks after running in the woods, so now we sit outside and I run this through his fur to shake out any ticks. I must say it works very well, and I like that it has such a long handle - unlike many other smaller flea combs. It also does a good job of just getting out the daily dust and dirt, and helps make his coat feel a lot cleaner even without a bath. I certainly wouldn't think this would work for a long haired dog, but for short to medium hair I think it would be fine.

So worth it!
Fleas suck. They are quick agile little flecks of parasitical crap that drive me and my little pug bug nuts. I am not a huge fan of topical pesticides besides which the pug is allergic. So I bathe the puglet once a week and use this very handy comb throughout the week to keep him clean of the ninja blood suckers. Works great! Gentle, one way force and they are combed right out of the fur. You just have to be quick to catch the flea before it jumps out of the comb. I recommend using this outdoors to avoid letting even one little bugger escape into your home.

It worked fine on our smooth coat dogs
Pins fell out after about a week. Combed our 5 dogs. It worked fine on our smooth coat dogs. Caught those nasty fleas! I think our one dog's hair was just too thick and that's why the pins fell out.

Seems OK.
It's a good flea comb, but my last one had tines that were closer together so nothing slipped through them. I use it to comb out loose hair and debris; my dog has never had fleas so I don't know how it would work on fleas. It's a good size and is comfortable to grip.

A Good Flea Comb
Okay, do I REALLY love a flea comb? No. But this comb works and works well with coarse short dog hair and get deep into the fur. The fleas get caught along with the dirt and nits and are easily disposed of in a container of soapy water. The comb-tooth section is about 2 3/4" in length while the entire comb is about 8 1/4" in length -- long enough to provide a secure grip and sturdy enough to comb and lightly tug without flexing.

FLEAS CAN'T HIDE
Best comb ever to find any fleas on your dog. If they have even one flea on them, and you comb your dog from head to tail, you will nab it. I would tell anyone who has a pet (guess it works on cats, too?) to purchase one of these. They are remarkable. Then if you find your pet has fleas, give them a Cap-Star (kills all fleas that are already on their body within 24 hours), then bathe your dog and apply Frontline and they will be fine. The comb has to be what you start with.

Better than baths!
We’ve had a really bad flea problem and this has been a life saver. Both of our cats and our dog have them and I’ve been able to use the comb on all 3. I’ve given them all flea baths, used capstar, vacuumed my whole house etc and this is easily the best method for flea removal. I comb them each once a day and after each comb thru the fur, I dip the comb in HOT soapy water and the fleas die instantly. Comb, dip, repeat. I will continue to vacuum religiously and keep up their flea meds but this is what has truly made a difference in our home!!

NOT 100% UP TO PAR - but OK
It doesn't "catch" all ticks and isn't easy to use on my chihuahuas. It is very rough getting through their fur. You need to brush them first. I must say it did snag 2 ticks - but we have an infestation this year in the Northeast and another 5 ticks managed to get past the comb regimen! we plucked them off our dogs even after combing them each for 10 minutes head to toe. The comb is OK but not great. If you expect to rid your dog of all ticks, you just need to know the comb isn't failsafe. Otherwise it's ok. It's possible the ticks had burrowed deep in my dogs' ears, but I check their ears with a flashlight so i think there were a couple the comb didn't 'grab'.
