The Malta Escape (Payne & Jones)

So, for anyone not familiar with this author, please understand that his book are written in a way that you learn the history of where the book takes places before the action. To some, it may start off slow and could deter you from wanting to continue reading. However, I promise this book is incredible! You have to learn how to appreciate the history lesson that comes with the novel to truly understand the importance and relevance of the treasure hunt. This book is a page turner, once you start you won’t be able to stop. Absolutely exceptional! Thank you so much Chris Kuzneski for another phenomenal read. You’re words are truly captivating!!

If you are in the mood for a great adventure, look no further! Chris combines action, history, and fun into every chapter. You'll be hooked on his writing for life once you read this book!

I’m pursuing another author historically. I enjoyed the Dempsey books and finished all them. So I’m happily chose this one for the history and traveling around countries in Europe. Been a pleasure!

Finally! Payne andJones are back. It’s like coming home to visit your best friend that you haven’t seen in forever. You pick right back up where left off. Amazing action, great characters, witty banter, and History. Chris’s ability to weave action and humor into amazing historical scenarios is second to none. Can’t wait for the next installment. Hopefully there will be another Hunters book to tide us over. Thanks for another fun read!

Let me preface my comments by stating that I have read all of Chris's books. Liked most of them, loved some of them. I had looked forward to the book coming out for a long time and I have to say I was rather disappointed. I would have given this two stars if it weren't for the fact that his books are usually really good and I just couldn't bring myself to give him two stars. The first thing...why do authors feel it necessary to have a mixed (male/female) cast of characters. It's okay to just have male characters. Romantic involvement isn't a requisite to draw women into reading the book. The dialogue between the female and the men tended to be cheesy. The interaction between Jon and David was snappy and witty as usual but as soon as the female character entered into the conversation it became juvenile and caused the book to drag. The second thing...I love history and learning about time periods and people I've not been previously familiar with but for three quarters of the book, pretty much we sit in one place getting a history lesson. No action accept for briefly at the beginning and briefly at the end. I think Chris has been involved in other endeavors and just quickly turned out this book so maybe we didn't forget about him (as if). This book won't stop me from getting any subsequent books because for the most part they tend to be a good enjoyable read.

Chris is an amazing writer, brings you right into the story like you were there, sense of humor is the best & really brings the characters & places to life. As usual this is an exciting story. Hope there are more to come & soon!

Ever since Payne & Jones appeared on the scene, I have enjoyed their episodes and exploits, and #9 is no different. However, their rapport has become more explicit with sexual implications, and that detracted from the conversations. Other portions were understandable, but that became a turnoff. I'll be more prepared when #10 comes along.

What better way to get me through the insane retail holiday season that a fascinating adventure with Payne and Jones? This journey starts with a dual retirement and an unexpected reunion with an old friend in Malta. A search for the lost treasure of the Knights Hospitallers, a vicious Russian crime lord, witty banter and a visit to the Ulster Archives combine to make this another thrilling quest. As always seeing the actual place through the virtual book tour on Chris Kuzneski's website is the cherry on the sundae for me. Thank you Chris for allowing me to live vicariously through Payne & Jones for another great venture!

As a long time fan of Payne & Jones. It didn't disappoint.Let's hope there will be more adventures to come..

After a long got something to read about Payne and Jones . The only bad part was I had to wait so long for it !

I loved this book and it's descriptions of Malta, a friend was born there and although he left when young loved the descriptions too. The story was awesome, can't wait for more
