1000% PLEASED with sealer and seller! Sealer is GREAT with liquid items!
I have had the Food Shield Vacuum Sealer for 2 weeks and have used it to seal gallon or quart sized ZipLoc freezer bags containing nuts (shelled and in-shell) chicken thighs, turkey broth, and canned clams.I first used this sealer for the nuts, and it worked great for dry items, just as any sealer should. However, the Food Shield really EXCELS at vacuum sealing liquid items! I love clams and the 6 oz cans are rising in price, so I bought a 51 oz can and split the juice and clams into 7 quart size bags.I sealed (be sure to check the Food Shield Youtube video on sealing liquids) the bags and popped them into the freezer! The Food Shield was a champ with sealing the clams+liquid-- during sealing of the 7 bags, it only sucked ~1 tablespoon of the juice into the catch-cup on the back I gobbled that and then cleaned the nozzle by sucking clean water from a bag per the instructions on Youtube (see: "concluding the process").Here are some things I've learned in my 2 weeks of use:1. Most Important Tip: ALWAYS turn ~2 inches of the top of the bag to the outside to form a cuff BEFORE filling. After filling, unfold the clean cuff and wipe with paper towel if you dripped anything onto this area during filling. This top area of the bag MUST be CLEAN and DRY to get a good seal (true for all vacuum sealers).2.Get the $15 upgrade with a larger liquid cup plus a hose+attachment (available from the drop down menu on the Amazon Food Shield page). I ordered one (still in transit) and I can see how helpful it will be in cleaning to be able to just stick the attachment on the nozzle and then put the end of the tube in a cup of water and pull a vacuum----no more juggling a floppy bag of water!3. I had difficulty removing the liquid catch cup the first time. It helped me to turn the machine over and push the bottom of the cup straight down. This was only a problem the first time--now it easily removes by pushing the bottom of the cup straight up and away from the machine. Also, if your machine doesn't pull vacuum after cleaning, but sure that the catch cup is fully seated in the machine and the lid is fully on.4. The Genetech manufacturer in Japan is very responsive and helpful. I e-mailed a question to the address (found in the Youtube videos) regarding the thickness of the 1/2 inch PTFE teflon tape covering the heating element (the manual noted this tape is an item that will eventually need replacement). The Genetech rep in Japan responded the same day!---The answer was 0.005 inch thick. What a GREAT seller!

Awesome!
I've only used a Food Saver before this. When the second one died, I started doing some research. There's no comparison. I did watch most of the videos on You Tube, so I knew to move the food closer to the machine and move the bag around near the snorkel so it doesn't get sucked up into it. I did about 30 bags of items tonight: an entire filet, hamburger patties, dried fruit etc. It worked like a charm. I wanted to buy a chamber vac but I have no space for it it my kitchen. If I can't leave it on the counter all the time, it doesn't get used. This is perfect for that. I can't speak for it's durability because tonight was the first time I've used it, but if it continues to work like it did tonight, it'll be the cheapest, best game in town. Throw your Food Saver away and buy this! Bags are ridiculously inexpensive and easily purchased in many sizes.Follow Up: I purchased this in late 2019 and used it quite a bit for about 6 months. It did sit in a drawer for a year but worked fine after that…until now, the first part of 2022. It turns on, and the little spout comes out but when turned on, it never sucks any air. The sealing part still works.
