Great Product - Just know the packaging is questionable.
These buggers work great.Reading the reviews I expected some broken tiles when I ordered these three years ago. On arrival, six were broken. You may have the same experience. Do not be alarmed. There were still more than enough tiles in pristine condition for my small propane grill. After three years of moderate (four-five times a month, year round) use, these original tiles still look terrific. Heat distribution is excellent, as is their cleanliness and durability. Every six months or so, I simply turn the tiles over (takes all of two minutes), and am back to a fresh presentation on the up side. In three years not a single tile on the grill has crumbled, cracked, or needed to be replaced.I love these things.

The name says it all!
Have used these before on a different grill, had to get a set for current grill.Nice even heat, being porcelain brick like, actually retains heat. Fat / drippings sear, which adds a bit of Smokey flavor. The grease / sauces actually gets flakey with the heat. When there is a bit of buildup simply shake / lightly scrape off or flip them over. Build up falls off in tray as it’s burnt off rather well. Controls flare ups very well. Because it sears the grease and sauces, there’s really not a need for the drip tents / protectors over the gas tubes - additional direct heat to the tiles.Seen reviews on broken tiles during shipping, not one was broken in mine.I have a medium to large grill 17”x 25” cooking surface, was short a few tiles for complete coverage, but I have a smoker box to put in that area. If you have a larger grill get 2 boxes, it’s worth having a few extra tiles, or give the remaining to a buddy.Love Grill Greats, awesome alternative to cheezy lava rocks, with added benefits.Would recommend (and have for years) Grill Greats.

Great addition to the grill, but a bit fragile
First, I purchased these with my own hard-earned cold cash, and have not received any sort of "freebie". Second, I also have been using these for almost one year.I have a Char-Broil Precision Flame 9000, that is at least 18 years old. I have used the living daylights out of it, as I tend to use it throughout the year. I have replaced burners several times over the years, but I have never been terribly happy over its performance. While I regularly cook burgers and steaks, I also will do various pork cuts, kabobs, teriyakki skewers, and various cuts of chicken. I have hot/cold spots, and even with low flame, I have had issues with burning and flare-ups. After purchasing these grilling briquettes and an adjustable wire grate, I set to placing them over the burners (they sit 2 inches or so above the burners). I have had quite an improvement in cooking, even heating, and being able to cook more "delicate" foods, such as chicken breasts without turning them into carbon crusted lumps. I am able to use the full grill surface and I have fewer issues with hot/cold spots, so I am able to have more food grill more consistently. There are fewer flare ups, and while they do occur, they tend to be fewer. I have my crew trained to help keep me hydrated properly..."BEER ME!" and I have either the cooler close by, or the wife or one of the kiddos is handing me a cold one, ready for consumption. I will burn them off for 10-15 minutes while I am heating up the grill. I am not a neat freak or clean freak, as I realize the heat will clean/burn/sterilize the grilling surface adequately (yes, I do know and can use sterile field technique). When carbonaceous waste builds up, they can be flipped over. As for packaging, yes, a few were broken when I opened the box, however, I can piece them together and/or play briquette Tetris and cover grill surface adequately. I also have managed to break a few when checking the status of my burner tubes, which is partially my being a klutz (much less debris in the bottom of the bbq clam shell, as well as semi-liquid waste). Since installing them, I have been able to prepare chicken breasts with just a dry rub, and no marinade as well as vegetables in a basket (the Cuisinart veggie basked the wife got me for my birthday was such a hit with the family we had to get a second one..). We also have been able to prepare kabobs on bamboo skewers with consistent results. I have seen my propane bottles last longer as well, as I can use a lower flame temp.

As a long time charcoal fan, these things have sold me on gas
My friend was tired of dealing with replacing the heat spreaders on his gas grill and I had heard good things about converting a gas grill to use lava rocks, so I used him as a guinea pig. He has a large 6 burner gas grill, so we purchased two adjustable grill grates from Home Depot and a few bags of lava rocks. The lava rocks were nice, but you get so many small pieces and even the larger ones somehow manage to fall through the grates. Coupled with having to manage the rocks so they all fit on the grate... forget about all that.Picked up two boxes of these grill briquettes (buddy's grill has about 560 square inches of cooking area) and I will never look back. I spent more time removing the rocks from the old installation than putting these new ones in. Perfect fit, amazing heat distribution, and the food tastes just as good (if not better) than charcoal. With all six burners on the absolute lowest level, the grill still manages to get up to 500°F. Burgers, sausages, steaks, and chicken never tasted so good. Out of the 90 briquettes given, only ONE was broken and it was a clean snap down the middle, so the briquette was still usable. The moment I find a great deal on a gas grill, this is the first thing I'm buying. Absolutely no doubt about that.

Just fit.
Showed up fast. I have a char broil that I bought in 2003 that is 14x25 inch on the dispersion rack. Didn't have anything there before. Got some expanded steel and 45 of these plates filled it perfectly. 3 were broken, but I just stacked then in with the rest and you can't tell they're broken. I did the initial burn in and the grill is staying hot way longer. I'll update if I have problems but so far they do the job.

Arrived broken, Twice.
I want to like these but after a refund for the first box for having 7+ broken and receiving a second order with half the box broken, I feel a little disappointed. They radiate heat well and none broke after I had the grill on high heat, but the packaging needs to be better. You might need to buy more than you were expecting to compensate for broken briquettes.

These are Great!
I really like these! I was shopping to replace the lava rocks in my old grill, and came across these. I am so glad I did, as I am a believer! I have used several metal grills with all the flare-ups that come with the experience, but after moving to lava rocks and then these I will never go back. I have recommended these to several people, and will continue to do so. Great product, even though some arrived broken. Not a big deal, just make sure you measure before purchasing, and get more than you need to cover your burner area. If you are frustrated with grill flare-ups, change your grill to these, you will be so happy you did!

Grill Greats 45-Pack BBQ Tiles (Briquettes) - 315 sq. in.
I believe this is the best thing since sliced bread. Regardless of what negative comments others have posted, I rate this product highly. Some stated damaged tiles upon receipt: Sorry, don't blame the sender, blame the shipper. I did have 10 or so broken tiles, but as I ordered more than my required (270 sq.in.) BBQ size, I didn't need to snap any to size - simply put the broken ones on the length/width sides, and voila! Others have complained about tiles breaking after usage: I've seen none of this - mind you I use prime cuts/lean burgers, and don't need to spray water/douse the flames due to flare-ups! These tiles spread the cooking heat thoroughly across the spectrum of the cooking zone, I've had rave revues about my cooking! Oh, and by the way, I'm using this product (and other replacement parts from Amazon) on my old 20-yr-old Kenmore BBQ. Cheap as borscht. Great product - love it!
