This Swill Pill Cutter is the best one I have ever used
I was hesitant to pay so much for pill cutter but I was so frustrated with the cheap drugstore plastic pill cutters that smashed rather than cut my large pills. This Swill Pill Cutter is the best one I have ever used. It is precise and slices rather than crush or smash my pills in half. I would highly recommend this to anyone. My pill is large so I have to hold it in place while I cut it. The pill can't be nestled in a niche and adjusted before you cut it but this is really easy to do. This is a quality item that is made of metal. There are no plastic parts so this will last a long time. The price is well worth it.

This cutter is beautifully made but poorly designed
This cutter is beautifully made but poorly designed. There are blades on both top and bottom so the pill will not lay flat for positioning. You must hold it with your fingers or tweezers and guess if its in the middle. The description is critical of the "cheap" plastic cutters but the ones with "V" shaped aligning walls do a much better job than this incredibly expensive device and at 1/10 the price.

Not the Pill Cutter I Expected.
I got the pill cutter today and experimented with it today on several round 20 mg Crestor, which were round with a diameter slightly over 1/4". I followed all the directions exactly. The half-cut on all my samples made the pill cut crumble in varying degrees. The second or quarter-cuts came out clean. I tried the half-cuts on my Apex Carex blade cutter and they came out perfect. I'm sure the quarter-cuts would too. So, I basically got screwed on an expensive pill cutter. I will try it on other pills but I am not sanguine about the results at all. My advice to potential purchasers: Beware! Internet products get less reliable every day.

Good performance and durability with hard pills, but very expensive
I went through a half dozen of various makes and models of plastic cutters (all purchased from Amazon based on customer reviews) before I reached the level of frustration necessary to justify spending $60 for one of these. But so far I am mostly satisfied.Pros:1) This is the first pill cutter I've found that will consistently divide really hard pills like slow-release Alprazolm (Xanax) without crushing them into dust.2) Very easy to use.3) Permanent "blade" should last a very, very long time.Cons:1) My wife thinks I'm crazy for spending $60 on a pill cutter.2) To maintain clean cuts, you need to clean out impacted pill dust from the cutting area after every 20 or so pills. With some types of pills, simply brushing away the dust isn't sufficient; I needed to dig out the impacted dust with an unfolded paper clip.

The Gold Standard of Pill Cutters
If you are unhappy with the cheap plastic pill cutters sold in drug stores, you might consider the Swiss Pill Cutter. Yes, it is expensive but when I was fed up with plastic pill cutters, I decided to try the Swiss version. It is solid metal, precision cut, finely machined and it is a good long term investment. I am pleased with mine and happy to recommend it.

Wish I could give it 0 stars; bang for the buck is unbelievably low
I have been using the MULTIPLE PILL SPLITTER by Pillcut, and became dissatisfied after a few months, looking for greater precision cutting my .27 inch diameter pills into quarters. So I decided to buy this large Swiss Pill Cutter, which however is much worse; I will be returning it immediately. The problems are as follows:1. There is nothing to hold the pill centered with respect to the blades. It can be moved side-to-side, so dividing in half is simply by guesswork.2. There is nothing to hold the pill level either. The blades are milled out of solid steel and so are not recessed. Therefore the pill must balance on top of the lower blade with no support on its sides.3. The movable arm can be wiggled from side to side because of slop in the hinge. The walls of the stationary base might stop that once it is nearly closed since it fits snugly in there, but since the walls are not very high, they do not perform that function anyway.

it would be perfect for the 'long haul'
I think of this item in the same light as an automobile which is not quite firing at TDC. Close is okay, but for the price I just can't endorse this product at this time. With a few modifications, it would be perfect for the 'long haul'.
