angry students shouldn't take laziness out on a good learning tool
It isn't fair for a student to take misplaced anger out on the author by giving them a low rating just because he or she did not want to do the assignment. I have been using the Pepino series for YEARS and the very reason I continued after the first year is because the students LOVE it ... love to laugh at Pepino, giggle at the Scooby-Doo quality, and actually love to work on learning how to READ Spanish, even if they do not understand all the vocabulary right away. My students are working on it together right now, laughing and asking questions; it's all in the attitude. This is a very helpful book for high school students who are willing to do a little preparation work before trying to answer the questions. Great for upper level and any honours or distance learning student. It's not written for the plot; it's written to assist a student WANTS to learn to read in SPANISH.

Fantastic
This book is great, it needs to be reprinted and made available for distribution again. I use it in my heritage language classroom. "Scooby-Doo" humor is very accurate.

Compelling and Innovative. An Instant Classic
The story was gripping and intense. There were multiple graphic yet tasteful rape scenes that evoked strong emotions of fear and compassion from the reader, yet showed the love that the characters felt for each other as the story line progressed. My personal favorite was the closet scene in which Sandy and Mario were discovered having a premarital affair by Pepino who decided not to tell Senor Dallas because of his openly gay relationship with Pepino's partner Panzon. I don't know how McGraw-Hill continues to do it again and again, but they are pushing more boundaries with their literature than HBO does with their controversial television shows. This book was far ahead of its time and covers more issues than the current literature of today. For me it was an instant classic and a great buy. If you thought 50 Shades of Grey was good, then you will love this book!!!

Best of the Pepino series; actually solves the crime by skill this time
Probably the best of the series, since Pepino's actually semi-intelligent in it and solves it through a bit of skill. The others in the series are just a lot more corny and predictable. Very reminiscent of Inspector Clouseau from Pink Panther; incredibly arrogant while often bumbling his way to the answer, along with his sidekick Panzon who likes to eat all the time. Great way to learn and practice Spanish!

This Book isn't worth the pages its printed on.
The book is terrible. The translation is too hard for high school students to comprehend. The plot is decent but the comic relief is not very funny at all. Find another book for your spanish class because this one is one of the worst iv'e seen.

This is not worth the $ 5
This isn't worth more than $5...but it's a OK book, even though it is like 50 pages.
