Delicious.
I can get Nairn's oat cakes locally, but not Walker's. I like Walker's taste better, and it's worth the effort to have to order. Authentic Scottish oat cakes are not sweet, which is exactly what I want--authentic oat cakes made with oatmeal, salt, a tiny bit of oil, and water or in this case milk powder.

Oatcake Shortbread by Walkers of Scotland
This Oatcake shortbread is a little different than the normal shortbread, having an oatmeal base. They are a little firmer but not hard like a gingersnap. They just have body or "fiber". The taste is similar to an oatmeal cookie but not as sweet. The cookies are good but not what I had expected for a "shortbread" cookie. I don't know if I would get them again but if my husband wants them again then we will order them. They were very fresh.

NOT fine oatcakes! More the traditional style. DARN!
Some buyers may be confused, as I was, by the name of this product. In the UK FINE oatcakes are a bit shortbread-like, slightly sweet, and made with a very fine texture. This is different from the ordinary oatcakes which aren't sweet, and are made from a coarse dough. These "fine" oatcakes are like the standard oat cakes, and do not at all resemblle the fine. They're ok as is, but a real disappointment. Is this mislabeling, or is Amazon's supplier caught in a supply crunch?

Great product
I was very pleased with the quality of the product. I've had oatcakes before, so I knew what to expect with the flavor. I think that, for a lot of people, oatcakes taste bland. I like whole grain, low salt food, so this is a great cracker choice for me. It arrived quickly, was fresh and unbroken. I recommend giving oatcakes a try.

WARNING - NOT gluten and dairy free as advertised!
I purchased these crackers because the product description said "fine Oatcakes have the additional benefit of being sugar and gluten free as well as dairy free". In addition, the picture of the product here on Amazon showed a box that actually had "wheat free" printed on it. I love oatcakes and cannot consume wheat or dairy so I thought these were perfect. However, the product I received was not as described. The box looks almost identical to the one shown in the picture, but the words "wheat free" are not there. In addition, the back of the box actually says "CONTAINS: GLUTEN" and "Not suitable for nut or milk allergy sufferers." What?! These are supposed to be wheat and dairy free!!

Simply scrumptious!
If you are looking for something that is not too sweet but tastes delicious this is it. I seve them to guests for afternoon tea and they love them. Also great for breakfast with a little cheese. I was as served them at breakfast when I visited Scotland and I am delighted that I can get them on Amazon.
