Not a great muffler but a good value
The construction of this muffler is not the greatest. The welds are shoddy and the main seam faces up instead of down, which means it will catch water and corrode. The price is right, it fits well, and works correctly. This is a good muffler to put on a beater. It'll probably need replacing in 3-5 years but I don't expect the car to last that long.If you think you'll be driving the car 3+ years down the road you should consider a better muffler. Good luck finding one though..

Excellent! Gen 2 Prius (2004-2009) List of ALL Exhaust Parts Needed
This muffler fits my Gen 2 Prius (2004-2009) perfectly! If you need the rest of the exhaust parts for this car, I recommend that you buy all the listed parts in the photo I included from Amazon (except Walker gasket Part # 31379 - see below), including the new resonator pipe and muffler if your catalytic converter is also bad. For reference, the factory exhaust is two pieces. The first is a long pipe that includes the catalytic converter and a resonator that attaches to the exhaust manifold in the front and the muffler in the back. Otherwise for the catalytic converter replacement, you'll be attempting to cut and clamp/weld onto this long pipe. You can probably reuse the existing rubber hangers, but new ones are cheap and easily replaceable while you have everything off. Here are some tips:* DON'T BUY the Walker Gasket (Part #31379) used to connect the exhaust manifold to the front of the catalytic converter. It WILL NOT work. I've spoken to Walker about it and others have commented similarly. It's more expensive (~$50), but YOU NEED THE TOYOTA OEM one (Part #17451-21060).*The Walker Bolt Kits (Part #36454) don't come with nuts you might need.*These parts are mainly aluminized carbon steel - not stainless like the factory system. This means that they were dipped in an aluminized coating for protection from rust. Don't scrape the stickers off with a sharp tool (leave them on) unless you want a spot that will rust through quickly.*This is an easy do-it-yourself job if you have access to a lift. If not, don't pay more than $150-$200 for professional installation of the full exhaust. It's a super-simple job and all the parts fit perfectly.

Sounds good to me
It’s early, so I will modify my statements as time goes on. It hangs in there, so it seems to be okay. Wish it came w the gasket ring. It’s quiet right now and we will see how long it lasts: April 23, 2022. Feb 10, 2023: signs of discoloration. No holes or obvious rust, but I’m a little concerned w the discoloration.

Top of the line quality...
If you place this side by side with an OEM you probably couldn't tell a difference.

Exact replacement
This thing is the EXACT one that was on there from 2008. Local mechanic shop wanted $630 including installation. 1.5 hours for me and she’s quiet again.

A few installation tips
I bought this muffler for my 2006 Prius. It was a good fit and the installation was smooth. When pulling out he old muffler and putting in the new one, it helps to spray the hangers with silicone spray. It makes wrestling the muffler out of and into the hangers easier. Because the recommended hardware kit does not have two needed nuts, I ordered the 35129 kit instead. The alternate kit worked for me although the bolts were a smaller diameter than the OEM. The tricky part of the installation was getting the gasket in place while starting the bolts. I used some Permatex high temp gasketing material I had on hand to stick the actual gasket in place until I could tighten the bolts. To get the bolts started, I used a C clamp to pull the two exhaust flanges closer together and hold them in place until I could get the bolts and nuts started. After that it was easy to tighten the hardware down.

Arrived with no packaging. Easy to install!
I installed this muffler to my 2007 Prius. Only did the rear portion of the exhaust; muffler, hangers x2 (p/n 35725), gasket (p/n 31690), and spring bolts (p/n 36454) all by Walker.Works great, although we will see how long it lasts. It is quiet and easy to install. Bolted up to resonator flange without issue. OEM muffler had a small heat shield welded to the muffler inlet, this one didn't. Hopefully it doesn't cause any issues. Much easier to attach to hangers than OEM.The muffler showed up without packaging, so it came with some scratches and a few small dents. It also does not have nuts like the OEM muffler had, so I added 2 M10x1.25 nuts for the spring bolts and extra washers for spring bolts to attached to flange.

Bolts directly to the walker resonator, kit does not have the 10mm fine thread nuts.
I replaced the Cat AutoShack EM28339, resonator Walker 55431 and muffler walker 54560. The muffler will install fairly easy. Autoshack supplied all the needed parts for a normal install. Two spare nuts fit the walker kit 36454 for the muffler. HEADS UP !!!! Cat EM28339 and resonator 55431 pipes are the same diameter, surprise! You will need a 1-7/8" coupler and two heavy 1-7/8" clamps. You will have to assemble everything so you can mark the length to cut off the cat. Then remove the cat and make the cut, about 2.5". I used a heavy duty pipe cutter. (Another possibility is a pipe expander in the cat pipe for a slip fit before any assembly.) Get the cat near to its location. Then put the coupler on the cat and resonator and bolt in the cat. Confirm the spring bolts on the cat and the exhaust are in correctly, then clamp the coupler. Otherwise have a muffler shop weld them together, not very DIY. Walker says their converter #16337 is a slip fit for the walker resonator #54331. Would have been helpful knowing that upfront.

Great price and great quality
Bought this for my 2009 prius. It fit great but would have been nice to know the flange doesn't have nuts welded to it like the oem ..I would recommend buying the bolt and spring kit too

Pipes are not stainless
Muffler lasted less than 10,000 kms before the pipe fell apart. The muffler itself looks great and is stainless steel. The pipes to connect it though are cheap mild steel and turned to dust.Very disappointed.

Muffler
Muffler fit exactly without any modifying, due to a review about rusting I decided to paint the muffler with high heat paint, you will need 2 bolts with nuts if you are replacing your original muffler as this has built in bolts. The car is as quiet as the original muffler, would recommend it...
