Sara Baras: Sabores

If you want to know what Flamenco is all about, buy the DVD titled Sara Baras, Sabores. She is absolutely wonderful. Everyone in her company is simply amazing and the passion they portray sends the audience on an imaginary trip to mystical Spain. She is marvelous, and Luis Ortega and Juan Serrano are very worthy partners in this production. Both of them are beautiful dancers with superior abilities. They are magnificent. I love to watch someone this good. Everything about the show is great. The coreography is so beautiful and fits with all the dancers she has in her company. She surrounds herself with the highest quality performers. Every dancer is a soloist, but each one works well together in a group, which is sometimes a difficult thing to do. In this show each dancer is showcased while dancing in beautiful lines. I just can't say enough about this spectacular show and everyone should buy it that wants to see really beautiful Flamenco done in a perfect way. Every time I watch it I want to practice for the rest of my life and am reminded of all the different reasons that I love Flamenco so much. I love the music, the dancing, the singing, the castanets, and the spirituality. It all works so well together in this show, it's a show full of artistic genius and passion. This DVD overflows with Duende, and is a passionate rendition of true, pure, and beautiful Flamenco.

I have been buying Flamenco DVD's for awhile now. This DVD is a true Gem. If you want over 90 minutes of great Flamenco dancing, this is the DVD to buy. Sara is probably the best Flamenco dancer around. They dress modern instead of the traditional outfits, but the dancing is spectacular. Buy it, you will not regret it. I have been honest with he Flamenco DVD's I have bought in the past because they show very little dancing or they show a huge group of about 30 people dancing which is distracting and you cannot appreciate an individual's talent , but this DVD is quite tthe opposite. It is all dancing, individuals doing their solo 'thing' and small groups of dancers. I would buy it all over again.

I was, frankly, disappointed in this DVD, not because of any lack of quality in the dancing or production. Rather, it was too good for my taste. Both the dancing and the staging were spare, sophisticated and modern, and I wanted colorful, traditional and colloquial. The lighting was dramatic and the singing was quite good; but for me, the best part was not the stage show, but the "Madrid's Night" extra showing members of the company with friends and family improvising on a patio in miscellaneous casual clothes running heavily to jeans. This had, for me, more of the spirit I was looking for--and I couldn't disagree with the star's mother that little Arabia (Sara's daughter?) was the star of that show.

Wow, if you love flamenco, this is a fine piece of artwork. Ms Baras is world famous; an artist of the highest order. This is a good show to watch to appreciate her skills as a Flamenco dancer and choreographer. This appears to be a film of a stage presentation. I did see her dance some years ago and, although I had to wait until nearly the end of the show to see the real performance, it was well worth the wait. The exhibition of movement, rhythms, unique interpretation of music, etc....all top notch.

Sabores, featuring flamenco dancer Sara Baras and her group, is one of the best flamenco DVD's in our collection. Lots of good guitar playing, spectacular cajon and palmas, some gypsy violin and an excellent dance troupe. It's a highly choreographed show, but the performers are so talented it still gets the excitement of a live performance. Be sure and watch the very extended curtain call at the end for absolutely the cutest young flamenco dancer yet.

This contains excellent dancing. However, there is one major problem. Much of the dancing is done with inadequate lighting. It's too darn dark! If one can overlook this, it is excellent! I am pleased with my purchase.

Elegant and powerful! I always like Flamenco and have learned dancing it for about two years. I know how hard it is. The choreography and costumes of this DVD have a bit of contemporary feeling but they only helped presenting the flavor and beauty of Flamenco better. No polka dots fluffy dresses there so we can see the precise and subtle movements of the dancers clearly. A very refreshing experience of Flamenco indeed! Highly recommended.

Fenomenal! Without a doubt the most talented, elegant, soulful flamenco dancer alive! Sara's dance company is by far the best complement of talent I've ever seen. And her performing guests (Jose Serrano and Luis Ortega)are outstanding. The music cuts through one's soul--amazing! And Concha is as beautiful as always. Don't miss out in this world-class performance!!!

This is an excellent DVD recorded after at about 200 performances of sabores all over the world. Just fantastic if you love Sara Baras flamenco ensemble which includes great singers, fabulous musicians and stunning dancers. Everything is glued by the spirit of flamenco Sara learned first from her mum and then from many other flamenco artists.

Ich gebe zu: Flamencotanzen zuschauen von einem DVD ist wie Whisky kosten aus einem Buch. Mann möchte einen persönlichen Geschmack entwickeln aber greift erst mal zur Alternative. In dem Fall von Flamenco da man es selber nicht kann, zB.In diesem Fall macht das auch nichts. Man schaut es an, wenn man Flamencotanzen sehen möchte. Und dann bitte nicht das Turistengehupf auf der Ramblas oder in irgendwelcher Kneipe auf Mallorca wo man nach ein Paar Sangria meint: Das kann ich ja auch!Nee, in diesem Fall nicht. Obwohl einen DVD auch produziert wird um Geld zu verdienen, wird hier einer Kunstform dargestellt.Flamenco ist einen Form von tanzen der von Gefühl aus bei den Zigeunern in Süd-Spanien entstanden ist. Man versucht es heute zu Tagen mit Takt und Choreografie zu verbinden. Nicht so mein Ding! Ich bin Europäer und mit 1,2,3-Takt tanzen aufgezogen aber ich respektiere die Tanze die anders getanzt werden sollen.Diese DVD trägt eine Flamencoausführung von Sara Baras und ihre Gäste.Gute Kameraarbeiten erfassen das einfache Dekor mit seinen Tänzer wunderschön. Genau, einfach! Ich wiederhole es noch mal: Einfach! Und warum wiederhole ich es? Da ein einfaches Dekor und einfache Leuchteffekten nicht ablenken! Ergebnis: Es gibt nur die Tänzerin oder den Tänzer... Die Musik...... und der Tanz!Man kann einfach nirgendwo anders schauen, man WILL den Tanz sehen. Man spielt die Musik lauter und lauter über die Lautsprecher um die Interaktion zwischen Musik und Tänzer wahrnehmen zu können.Es läuft bei mir öfter einen DVD im Hintergrund aber keiner saugt mich herein wie dieser.Nicht aufgeschmückt mit Gypsy Kings Musik oder hier und dort einen Riverdance für Anfänger. Nein, man bekommt hier die pure Musik, mit Arabische Einflüsse, von Virtuosen vorgetragen. Leidenschaftliches Tanzen ohne zugeschnittene Bühnechoreografie, außer für das Paartanzen.Versuchen Sie einfach mal 10 Sekunden wegzublicken, ich verspreche es Ihnen: Sie werden es nicht schaffen.Nicht besser als 'Live dabei' aber eine gute Alternative für die Leute ein bisschen Kultur aus Süd-Spanien zu kosten. Falls man mal nicht in Spanien dabei sein kann.

Hatte Show von Maria Pages in Baden Baden gesehen und war im Flamenco-Fieber. Sara Baras tanzt sicher gut, ich hatte mir aber etwas anderes vorgestellt und die Show ist mit der von Maria Pages nicht zu vergleichen. Schade, dass es solche DVD's nicht (außer Riverdance) von Maria gibt.

No lo he probado pero esperaba que la carátula estuviera mejor, es para regalo y tiene rayones y el papel algo roto por las esquinas. Bueno, por el precio que tenía y lo imposible que es encontrarlo tampoco esperaba acabados en oro.
