Woodstock D3634 Knives Set for W1741, 8-Inch, 4-Piece

I'm just starting a cabinet and furniture building shop and use the W1741 Shop Fox planer daily (Which I absolutely love). I've owned the planer for a few months now and these are the first replacement blades I've used on it. First off, the blades came packaged great and arrived 16 hours after I ordered them (AZ to ID), which blows my mind how efficiently the shipping methods are for the various channels involved in that process, especially at $3.99 for shipping. The blades themselves were in great shape and very sharp and the installation is fairly straight forward. I would, however, recommend getting a tool specifically designed for setting planer blades to ensure accuracy and alignment of the blades, not because its impossible to do so without but because it will save alot of time, I used a machinist square. The reason I gave these blades 4 stars is due to the softness of the steel used for the blades (Carbide would be better), these will need to be either sharpened/ replaced within a few months of heavy use. But hey, for the price its not a big deal. If I'm able to ever start making any good money on this cabinet shop endeavor I'll upgrade to a good helical cutter head and ditch the straight blades. So bottom line; good price to quality ratio and yes I would recommend these blades. Thank you Amazon and Woodstock for the great business.

These knives are working good with no problems. Been using this set almost every day for last two months.

I purchased these blades to replace the worn out ones in my G0490 (grizzly 4-knive parallelogram cutter). Not surprisingly, these fit perfectly. I don't know what kind of tool steel they use but my guess would be some sort of M2 or M42 HSS. They were amazingly sharp right out of the package - I started a new project over the weekend on some interlocked grain that was tearing out right and left with the old blades (and even a high angle smoothing plane) - but the surface was perfect with these. Awesome! I will likely buy another set just to have on hand!

These knives are not 3/4 inch in width but rather 20mm which is ~1/16th inch larger than 3/4 inch and would not fit my grizzly jointer
