I have been searching for a good tasting and wholesome gluten free bread and I have found it – Essential Baking Company Super Seeded Multi-Grain Sliced Bread, 14 oz from Essential Baking Company. Here are the ingredients as listed on the bag: Filtered water, mixed seeds (sunflower flax seeds), rice flour (white, brown & sweet rice), egg (whole egg, egg white), high oleic safflower oil, tapioca flour, sugar cane fiber, granulated sugar, yeast, pear juice concentrate, plum puree (prune juice concentrate dried plums) modified cellulose, salt, xanthan gum, baking powder (glucono delta lactose & calcium carbonate), cellulose gum, orange citrus fiber Made in a dedicated bakery free of gluten, dairy, nuts & soy.Like many of my readers, I would prefer not to have almost a teaspoon of sugar in each slice of bread and I can taste the slight sweetness in the bread. That said, typically I put something like unsweetened peanut or almond butter on the bread and add a bit of acacia honey. The resulting sandwich tastes great and the small slices of the bread hold together nicely.I went to the Internet to find out more about the Essential Baking Company and discovered that “they are a Certified Organic Company which means that in our certified organic products, we don’t use any ingredients unapproved by the National Organic Program, including anything with genetically modified organisms (GMO). Additionally, we don’t use any soaps or cleaners that are considered unsafe for organic baking.” Their web site is attractive and includes the many products they sell in addition to the gluten free variety that interest me and most likely readers of this review. Now, the question is where to buy the bread. I just found it for $6.29 on Vitacost. Come on Amazon, why not include that site for people who only want to try one loaf before they commit to a bigger order?Recommended with noted reservations about the sugar.

Dry and crumbly
I used to buy this every week from Costco, frankly I thought it was just normal for gluten free bread to be so awful. When first opened the bread is great, it is soft and has great flavor. The second day is when it gets bad, after being in the fridge (recommended storage per instructions on the package) it becomes the worst bread I've ever had, dry and crumbly, sucks the moisture from my mouth. The only way we could get it down was by frying both sides in butter before making our sandwiches. It also worked well for French toast. My Costco stopped carrying it for a while so I tried something else and found that it is not normal for gluten free bread to be so awful and difficult to eat. There is no way I'd go back to purchasing this. Just skip it.
