Love the Product
I have had this unit (7 of them) for about 4 years. I put them in the hallways of a hi-rise elderly apartment building, and some of the comman areas. I just bought another one for my basement at home and it made a world of difference. No more musty odor. I have had no problem getting parts from my distributor at a reasonable price. I have replaced some filters where I had heavy smokers, as a matter of fact. I recommend this product.

Loved it at first...now I'm frustrated and discouraged
I bought this unit based on a recommendation of friends who purchased it for household dust and because of asthma issues their son had. I thought if it could eliminate dust and odor it would be worth it. I purchased it from a sales representative 4 years ago. Until this past fall, I loved this unit and would have told anyone that it was worth the hefty price. I've not experienced any health issues, I've not been irritated by the ozone issue and it really did the job that I was told it would do. But then the RCI Cell unit went out and I've not had any luck getting ahold of the sales representative that sold it to me or finding a not-so-shady website where I can buy the parts. I was disappointed when I read the bad reviews on the product and the company that sold the units. I'm about a week away from just throwing this unit in the trash and it makes me sick that I'm throwing that kind of money away. Unless you are prepared to deal with the frustration later, don't buy this product.

Unit works well, but maintenance and parts a drag
The unit works well eliminating dust and odor. Most of my friends who have this machine have the same complaint that I do - Maintenance and new parts. They tell you that you never need to buy another filter. This is true, but the lamp ($17) always needs replacing (this is the 3rd one in 18 months) and friends of mine have complained that they have needed to replace the plate many times. Since you cannot buy parts at your local store, you need to get them online and wait while your machine is out of commission. You need to clean the machine at least once a month. It is not like other machines that just snap open. You need to unscrew the back panel, front panel and inside panel. It is amazing how dusty the inside gets! The filters are easy to wash down. Like anything else, when it is working it is great.

I have a lot of allergies and this helps clean the air. Takes out odor of air too. Very happy with this purchase.

This is my second one, and I still love it!
It helped with stale smells in the house from having the house all close dup with air conditioning. Also - I have been coughing a lot due to possible allergies. It caused me not to sleep. Now - I am sleeping, and even better. Thanks be to God! :-)The shipment was very quick. The documentation (manual) was excellent as well.Considering this is quite an expense - it is well worth it.

An expensive, unproven, and potentially dangeorous device
The Fresh Air was/is just another fraudulent device from Ecoquest International, which is, thank God, now defunct. However, this ineffective and potentially dangerous device is still kicking around and being advertised to unsuspecting customers.First of all, the "Fresh Air by Ecoquest" device is not an air cleaner nor did Ecoquest call it that. It is not an air cleaner because it does not clean the air. EcoQuest claimed that it made "indoor air fresh and clean-smelling day and night."Note that "fresh" and "clean smelling" does not mean clean! Moreover, its claims to eliminate smoke, etc were unproven. On the side of the box of the "Fresh Air" unit Ecoquest, in very small print, admitted that they had NO "competent reliable scientific substantiation" for their device. The "Fresh Air by Ecoquest" is shaped like a box with the dimensions of 12" H x 9" W x 12" (the size of a small stereo speaker). It weighs 16 pounds. Its power consumption is 90 watts on 110 volts. It contains a 5 speed fan which the manufacturer rates at a maximum of 400 cfm (cubic feet per minute). It is operated either by a remote or the control panel on the front of the unit. The unit also "alerts you when normal maintenance needs to be performed or service is required."All of this information is from the literature which came in the box with the unit I got.EcoQuest claimed that the fan in their "Fresh Air" unit had an air moving ability of 400 cfm (cubic feet per minute) and that it worked for indoor areas up to 3000 square feet. When you read that claim you should sense that something is fishy about because even MUCH larger air treatment machines claim much less coverage and usually only over an enclosed room. More to the point, my experience was that it does not cover 3,000 square feet by any stretch of the imagination or nose.More to the point, the literature for the device did not specify a CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate). The CADR is the only generally recognized measure of the effectiveness of devices which are sold to address indoor air quality. What this device really delivers is OZONE! Ecoquest admitted that buried in the literature. However, as the EPA has pointed out, "Manufacturers and vendors of ozone devices often use misleading terms to describe ozone. Terms such as "energized oxygen" or "pure air" suggest that ozone is a healthy kind of oxygen. Ozone is a toxic gas with vastly different chemical and toxicological properties from oxygen."Everyone knows by now that breathing ozone is bad for you and that ozone generators are potentially dangerous. Unfortunately, Ecoquest did not admit up front that their device generated ozone which is why some people, including me, bought it.All you really need to know is that all of Ecoquest's claims for their machines were questioned, challenged, and demolished by reputable scientists, reliable air quality experts, state and federal courts, and federal agencies for years, as well as Consumer Reports. No wonder they went out of business.I only wish I knew these things or someone had told me before I came into contact with Ecoquest. The bottom line for me is that apart from making the air smell a bit like a swimming pool (a chlorine-like smell) in my home, I became naseous and always got a headache when the unit was operating. There was no other noticeable change to my indoor air. Once I researched the truth about Ecoquest and their device, naturally, I threw it away. My conscience would not allow me to resell it to anyone. The bottom line for you is if indoor air quality is a major concern for you then you have to look elsewhere for a device that actually works both safely and reliably.Again, the "Fresh Air" is not an air cleaner. It does not clean the air. It does not deliver clean air. It is not an air filtration device. It does not remove anything from the air. It only adds to indoor air. It adds ozone. If you like that or, scientific facts be damned, are a "believer" in ozone, fine, then go ahead and buy one.But you are really better off purchasing a reliable air cleaning machine made by a reputable manufacturer, certified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, that has been tested and proven to work.P.S. It now appears that the "Fresh Air" unit is now being marketed and sold by an outfit called "Vollara." Caveat emptor.

how do i get it serviced? it wont power off or change settings
I am so disappointed, after i had the fresh air machine I was told that no, it was not warrantied, that you were only supposed to buy them from local dealers. I bought mine in 2008 online from alpine air. Now the power does not go off nor can I put the "away" setting on, I am moving and I need to get my house purified after many cats and some dogs.I paid 739 dollars for this unit and I have an email from alpine air that I have a 3 year warranty, yet there is no phone number to call and I remember calling ecoquest before and being told the unit is illegal and I cannot get it serviced and it is not warrantied with them.Product Color Model Quantity Price FRESH AIR PURIFIER 1 $ 739.95So what do I do now? I brought in two Shaklee ionizing machines and hoping for the best.I cannot smell so I do not know if these units help the air in my house or not.I do know that once I had all the cats in their playhouse and the dogs outside and I put the "away" setting on with the ecoquest, and a cat that had snuck back in cried from the upstairs window.....so I do know that cats do not like this setting! Luckily I heard him and was able to put him outside with the rest.
