Unreliable :P
Man, these were great for about three months. Beautiful and worked well. I use them almost daily for drafting and taking notes, and so they get quite a bit of use. But after only about three or four months, the internal mechanism on all three broke somehow and it started breaking off lead about 3mm into the shaft. No idea what was causing this. But it meant that every 5 minutes or so, I was having to feed it new lead, and I'd lose about 4mm of lead that would fall out the end. So, while they're pretty, I'm sad to report that if you need reliable pencils, these cannot be trusted. I've had some of the GraphGear 500s for years without a problem. They're not as pretty, but at least they work.

Favorite mechanical pencil
I had ordered a set of Pentel pencils with different lead sizes for drawing and absolutely loved the smoothness of the lead and how well it glided over paper, how comfortable it was to use with the grippy silicone (?) and textured base, and how my hands did not suffer from fatigue after using it for several hours. I began to swipe a Pentel mechanical pencil from my drawing stuff to use in my gradebook (teacher - and this is the first time in 20 years I have had to record grades on paper - don't get me started), in my bookkeeping, list making, planner, etc. I became annoyed with having to return the pencil to my drawing desk, so I ordered another for work. Then I became annoyed because I still did not have the really nice pencil for my home desk, so I just bought a pack of three for my home desk and my purse, and now I have a spare. I am very fussy about pencils, and this one is simply the most enjoyable to use and I have tried many, many brands.

Best Mechanical Pencil I Have Ever Used
I absolutely love these mechanical pencils. They are the best that I have ever used. I love how you press the pocket clip and it retracts the tip back into the pencil. I carry one of these in my shirt pocket all the time, keep one out in my workshop as my shop pencil, and have one at my desk. I have bought a total of 10 of these because I give them to family and friends as gifts. I love the 3 pack of these because I get a great mechanical pencil at a great price.

Awesome
I love these pencils. Again has a great price on these, I needed a new pencil and bought one of these at Staples on a whim for about twenty bucks. After using it for a semester, I decided to get this pack of three here on Amazon so that I could keep one with red lead and one with blue lead. I painted the eraser caps to match the lead color, and having pencils with colored lead have made my calculus and physics notes so much clearer. Writing and drawing diagrams with these pencils is a real dream. They have the perfect weight, and the grip has the right amount of knurling and padding, pages of equations are comfortable to write out. The retract mechanism of the tip is pretty slick and keeps the pencil from poking me when I put it in my pocket.tldr: awesome pencils, great price, I will definitely buy this again if I ever need more pencils. Can't recommend highly enough.

A mechanical pencil for professional tradesman
After wearing out many plastic mechanical pencils , I borrowed same brand from our chief millwright. I found them on line because they felt so nice and worked so well. It has been a few months and I will purchase again when I loose these but so far they have worked flawlessly for me and I will probably purchase when I loose them as I don’t think they will wear out in my lifetime!

What a joy to Use
These new style Pentel Gear 1000 mechanical pencils are a joy to use. They are very well made with a pretty unique feature of retracting the lead when you press the clip to put it in your pocket, a quick click and the lead pops back out, just where you left it, brilliant. It is also very comfortable to use and even has a little selector ring, which you can rotate to show what lead it is loaded with. This is a neat touch, but could be a little bigger or in different colours for my aging eyes. I have three of the 0.7mm models, all loaded with different leads. Will be buying the 0.5 and 1mm models in due course.

heavy durable and reliable
I'm hard on gear and the retractable tip has been a life saver.these write really well, Please Please Please use good lead or you won't like them.seriously if you're going to put a pretty penny into a good pencil buy good lead. They have held up very well, several of my friends have had the same one for many years and it followed them all the way through engineering school.

Good looking and audibly pleasing
After a full semester of multiple math classes i can say these are great. These pencils have the meanest sound click ever! Its so addicting to fidget with these pencils. Some people don't like the weight but im not bothered by it. I like the heftyness of them. The only issue i have with it is that because of retracting tip there is a little bit if "play" in the tip. It is not very noticeable but if you are a person that appreciates precision i would advise you to use a solid non retracting pencil.

they are nice to use and fairly robust with its metal exterior
I have a number of these, they are nice to use and fairly robust with its metal exterior, just be careful when re-assembling after a blockage, since the core is still made of plastic. I have had the front inside snap off on one pencil, could have been a manufacturing defect or perhaps I over-tightened it a little or just wore it out. Either way, its a great product, comfortable to use and looks a lot nicer than the old blue and black plastic Pentel's.

Great pencil
Perfect for DIY stops the lead from breaking when in your pocket etc. Marks nice dark lines and doesn’t rub off too easily
