SLOPE ROPES ARE THE BOMBDIGGITY
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Started our 8 year old skiing yesterday, and the slope ropes were the best purchase ever. Easy to help him control his speed, and to keep him leaning forward not back. After a few runs on the"bunny hill" we went up the chairlift. By the end of the day he was skiing very well for his first day. He can't wait to go back.

Easy to use, multiple ways to use it.
It's official, I am a fan of the slope ropes. I like that I can steer my little guy when I need to so he doesn't go off the slopes, and I really like how I can use it as a tow rope too! The times when we come to a flatter section of the trail, I'll ski past him and as I do, I lift my end of the slope ropes up and over his head as he holds on to his end so I can start to tow him. Then, when we have gained enough speed and the slope has gotten a bit steeper, I just let him ski past me and I lift the ropes up and over his head again and (voila!) then I am behind him. Also really appreciate how I can hold on with just one hand. To get on the lift, I roll them up and stick them inside my jacket.

Works as advertised and helped my two daughters feel safe and have the correct balance.
My two daughters (4 yrs. & 2 yrs, 8 mo.) benefited greatly from using these ropes. My oldest daughter went skiing twice last year, but usually after just 2-3 times down the bunny slopes (Magic Carpet at Snoqualmie Summit in WA), she didn't want to ski anymore because she would get scared from going too fast, causing her to fall and end up with her legs in an uncomfortable position. This year, it started out about the same, but on our second trip up to the slopes, I used these ropes and she really enjoyed them and was able to go about 7-10 times before being tired and wanting to stop, and we were able to make two trips to the bunny slopes each day. She started off holding on to the bar, but after a while, she was willing to let go and just have her hands in front of her to help with balance. With a slight twisting of the bar I was holding, I was able to have some effect on guiding her direction, but a lot still depended on her own control of her skis and body. This might be partially due to the fact I was using it on the bunny slope so there was not enough tension on the ropes because of the slow speed and very low incline of the slope. I think it should work better if we were going down some beginner slopes. For my younger daughter, this was her first year skiing, and she wanted to quit in the middle of her second run down the bunny slope (she is not as physically coordinated as my older daughter). She was very afraid of the speed (even though it wasn't very fast) and not being able to hold onto my hand (but if she held on to my hand, her balance was way off). On our second trip, she saw her older sister use these ropes and she wanted to use them as well. She was able to go down the bunny slopes about 3-5 times before being tired and wanting to take a break (an improvement from before). She holds onto the bar and hasn't been willing to let go yet, but she has not expressed any fears about going to fast, or needing to hold my hand.Unfortunately, because of Covid-19, the ski resort that we normally go to decided to end their season early, and so we used these ropes on two days. However, I plan to buy another set of ropes for next year so both daughters can use them at the same time, but that means also getting my wife to help out holding the ropes.

I was skeptical but this was amazing for teaching my 3 and 5 yr old!
I was skeptical but this was amazing for teaching my 3 and 5 yr old! As other reviewers state it helps them keep their center of balance and control their own skis while allowing you to ski a comfortable distance behind them, control their speed and help them make turns. If you can afford it I would recommend starting with the hookease to help them make the wedge easily and understand how to turn. But its up to how your child is to taking instructions and controlling their legs/skis. I had my 3 year old and 5 year old skiing down the bunny hill on their own after 1 day of using this. It was definately worth the money since it was cheaper than lessons and I got to experience the joy of teaching them to ski. I must say be sure you are a very good skier before you attempt to teach your own kids. I've been skiing for 20 years.

Totally Sold on Slope Ropes after one use!
These are the perfect training device. I've been skiing since I was 3 and now am teaching my son who just turned 4. These are great because they encourage good form (as indicated in the product info section). They also give my son comfort because he knows I'm there (but he can't see that 1/2 the time I let the slack down so much that he's actually skiing on his own!) This builds great confidence. Also it's nice because I can hold it with one hand and still steer him in the right directions. It's more of an encouragement than a pull, so again, it helps build good form and confidence in my little skiier. As mentioned in the product info, it's nice to use these to pull him too and also the fact that they easily wrap up and fit inside my coat pocket for the chair lift or holding my son on the rope tow is really convenient. I really couldn't speak any more highly for what is essentially two plastic tubes with some rope in between :) Great concept and extremely well executed!

Easy ski trainer that lets them learn!
4.5 stars, honestly. The only problem was still needing the lift handle of the harness to help my 3-year-old up from falls and on/off the chair lift. She and I both prefer this to the clip on straps. With the rope I can verbally direct her turns (and as time has gone on she can just turn when she thinks she should) instead of fighting against the pull of the harness. Great for quick on/off ath the lift once all involved are trained in. Easy to wrap up and carry in the lift line. Fits compactly in the boot bag. Love this product.

AMAZING
Works best if you are an expert skier yourself because you have to ski closely behind your child and you need to make small quick turns. I LOVE this! It was so easy and I just quickly wrapped the rope around the two sticks and put them in my side pocket of my ski pants when riding the lift. My 5 yr old can grab the bar and put it around his waist himself. It helps the child learn correct ski stance because the bar is lower on his waist and he is able to lean forward and bend his knees, unlike a chest harness that pulls their upper body backwards. He could ski on his own but still hold the bar just for backup safety and that made him feel more confident. GREAT PRODUCT!

Ski Aid
just used this on a ski holiday for a nearly five year old child, was absolutely perfect for the job, she was able to ski safely until she was more confident to do it on her own, gave her parents comfort and control, has enough length for the child to be able to move about from side to side without parents tripping over her if she fell and slowed her up if needed

Great reins to build confidence
Brilliant and so much better than a backpack style harness as really encourages correct posture. Also handy for towing on flat!

Does the job!
We personally prefer this type of guidance rope versus ones that go on the legs and one that is a backpack. For me, it seems the pull from a backpack would alter the child's balance, and the ropes around the legs could be a danger. This one your child holds, or you just put it around his/her waist and because the child is in front of you, it stays in place. It allows you to ski to the left of your child or right without affecting his/her balance. I really like the pulling option, which you cannot do with the leg ones or the backpack style. Your child just holds the rope and you walk in front and pull them. No complaints! We are enjoying learning with this!!!!

Dont be that guy!
If you ever been on a ski hill you know what I mean. That guy that was yelling loudly at his 5 years old kid because he was having fun but his poor legs cant slow himself down enough. That guy that was constantly yelling "PIZZA!!! PIZZA!!!" so that's all the kid will remember from his first day of skiing. That guy that was constantly picking up his kid every 2 meters and gave up after 2 runs...Instead just get the slope rope and you will be the coolest dad on the hill. Shove it in your pocket on the way up, throw it to your kid on the way down. Help him to stop and steer as much or as little as you want. On the flat flip it over his head and pull him along. My younger kid was having too much fun that my other kid complained why he didn't get to use it when he learned skiing.I have no idea why anyone would pay for a $100 harness when this works so well. The only complaint that I have is the material of the rope can easily damaged by velco, and good luck finding a ski jacket that isn't full of them. I have to tape over all the velco on my jacket to avoid damaging the rope.

Great teaching tool... Nice and simple!
Used these for the first time last weekend and it took my 3yr old 1 run to get the hang of it. After that it was fun and smiles all around! Nice and simple, easy to pack in jacket when on lifts, etc and a great option for towing. Love it. And at a price much cheaper than some of the harness options. Love the bright pink colour for a little extra visibility.
