Unfulfilling
As with many 'modern changes' to classic prayers/devotion's this TOTALLY misses the mark in the preparation for a consecration to Our Blessed Mother. St. Louis DeMonfort's preparation is steeped in Scripture and prayer to Our Blessed Lord and His mother Mary ... Fr. Gaitley's preparation is built on people ... individuals who had a great devotion to Mary ... with minimal prayer involved ... and no formal prayer at all. The books reflections would be ok as an addendum to the daily reading and prayers of DeMonfort's work, but as a stand alone preparation its lacking. After the 2nd week I reevaluated my progress, reset my day for Consecration, and began my preparation again using the True Devotion To Mary. There is no short cut here ... You must go through the crucible. The 1 star is for the prayers at the end of the book.

Best resource out there if you want to get closer to Jesus through Mary!
Father Michael has done an amazing job with this book and it is partly because the Holy Spirit guided him in completing this book. If you find Consecration with Louis de Montfort a bit dry and too theological, this is the best alternative! We have also bought DVD with Father Mike's talk for each of your weeks reading. If you are truly committed to Consecrating yourself to Jesus through Mary, this book is definitely the best resource to prepare you for the new Glorious Morning that will come after your Consecration. I have experienced divine peace of knowing that Mary is always by my side guiding and leading me on the right path towards heaven, giving Her protection against satan and his temptations - I have found victory over one addiction that has been hunting me down for all my life and I know that it is Mary's help since She wants me to be a clean temple of the Holy Spirit and have a pure heart so that Jesus may rest in it.

I really liked the layout of the book
I really liked the layout of the book. Because I work in the evening and homeschool my kids in the morning I have very little free time. This book allowed me to read the section for each day in the morning so at any time throughout the rest of the day I could think more about it. Though each days reading is short it is meaty enough to dwell on throughout the day.I didn't honestly expect to feel any different after completing the consecration but I do have a greater sense of peace. It is one of those things you have to experience for yourself to fully appreciate.

Deep digging, reflection, and understanding
What an amazing, truly uplifting and eye opening retreat. Very simple and short passages made following the consecration a much less daunting task for a very busy household. Fr Gaitley inspires with the teachings and very relatable scenarios and passages. As a young Catholic I spent a lot of time confused trying to explain the importance and role of our holy mother... This retreat along with the companion have the reader digging deep into themselves to reflect and come to understand, not only to sacrifice or devotion, but how to with clear mind and heart, trust in our blessed mother... I can't think of a negative for this incredible publication, and I look forward to repeating the consecration every year!

A blessing for those seeking the Lord!
This is an amazing book! I recommend this to anyone seeking to get closer to the Lord. Our blessed mother gives us a path that leads to him, so that we can always keep our eyes on Him, and "Do Whatever He Tells Us". It is a daily self guided retreat with a focus from four different Marian Saints. Each week is spent with a different guide. St Mother Theresa of Calcutta, St Maximilian Kolbe, St Pope John Paul the II, and of course St. Louis de Montfort. The Author's insight and guide into the depth of prayer is an inspiration to to continue through. I was so blessed by this book, that like any really good retreat, I didn't want it to end. I will be using this every year in preparation for the Renewal to Consecrate myself to the Lord through his dear Mother. I have learned just how much she loves each of us, and what a gift she is to the church and to the world.

This is the best book on Marian Consecration for the modern reader!
I consider myself a devout Catholic, and have done the St. Louis de Montfort 33 Day Consecration many years ago using the classic de Montfort spiritual writings. This book is able to be used in class form or privately. My husband and I did it as part of a class at our parish. We were greatly edified and uplifted. The daily meditations, readings and prayers are rich with the writings of the four saints used for this book: St. Louis de Montfort, St. Teresa of Calcutta, St. John Paul II, and St. Maximilian Kolbe. I learned a lot of fascinating things about each of these saints lives that I did not know.A note: be sure to buy the companion workbook that goes with it. It's pricey, but my class didn't use it for everyone, only the teachers. When it was my week to teach (each of us took one of the four weeks) I realized that the whole experience would have been much richer and spiritually deeper if all the class members had worked through the workbook and meditated on the exercises in the workbook.

Awesome book, but...
This is an awesome book about consecration to the BVM, and is divided up into 33 days, as the material would be overwhelming is one tried to read it as a novel. You just have to take it in little bites that you can 'chew' and 'digest' a little at a time due to the intense spiritual food contained.BUT: paper used to make the cover is so cheap that it starts to dogear, split and curl after reading only a few pages. This could be rectified by using higher quality paper for the covers, and spiral binding it, vs glue binding, as it is just large enough that you want to turn the cover completely to the rear when reading... as when in church, you have no table to rest it on... Also the size is a little large for a woman's handbag, or a gentleman's suit coat pocket making it suffer more wear and tear from handling. A 4" x 6" format, and maybe a little thicker could solve this dilemma... Surprisingly the font is a nice size... use of a sans-serif font, and it would be perfect.

Exactly as expected
This is a DIY Catholic retreat with the specific goal of entrustment of one’s life to the care of Mary, because she will lead one ever closer to Jesus, since her only goal is to do the will of God. It is a comprehensive guide.

33 Days to Morning Glory: A Do-It-Yourself Retreat in Preparation for Marian Consecration
It is a follow on from St Louis De Montfort's True Devotion to Mary and brings a modern day perspective into this Consecration, helps you to understand more the Spritual qualities of this Preparation.I have used St Louis De Montfort's book over the past 1-2yrs and will use Fr Gaitley's book for the remainder of my life.I would advise everyone I know who is looking to Consecrate themselves to our Blessed Mother to buy this book.

Nearly, but not quite, as good as the real thing.
A good book that sets out to simplify De Montfort's treatise on True Devotion. However, like all simplifications it lacks the meat of De Montfort. This book is useful as an introduction to De Montfort's teaching on Consecration. But it is no substitute for the original masterpiece which is True Devotion and The Secret of Mary
