Fun, quick game for hockey lovers
Spot It! NHL edition is a great little gift (or stocking stuffer) for hockey-crazed kids of any age. Instead of the traditional Spot-It, NHL edition takes the NHL team logos and other hockey-related items (a stick, a helmet, a ref jersey, etc.) and asks players to match their cards to the center card. It is a game that is easy to play, but requires some thinking and concentrating on the part of the players to match and discard their cards. It is a fun game, easy to learn, and its small size makes it perfect for throwing in a travel bag for those travel hockey weekends in a hotel room, or at the rink between games.

Want to learn the team names?
I bought this for a pseudo-nephew for Christmas. At first he was not very excited about it but once we started playing he really liked it and his dad is a big hockey fan that enjoyed playing the game with his son. I really like that it makes you learn the hockey team names and I'm sure his Dad liked that, too. It ended up being a hit, but I don't think it is a game with much longevity due to it's simplicity. But that is okay, what does when you are a kid?!

Fun to play with my 4 year old
Very simple game, but definitely fun. It says ages 7 and up, but I'd say any child who can associate a picture with a word can handle it, but it being NHL obviously adds to that difficulty curve. We have this and the original one (which is easier), but she still fairs by just making up her own words for the pictures on her card (e.g. Minnesota Wild is simply "bear").Also, when I do play with her, I started by giving her a 3 second handicap per card before I would look at it too. That quickly dwindled to 2 seconds, and even then she was still keeping up.Age requirement aside, it's a fun and kind of frantic game (think slapjack) that has many different very easy to pick up ways to play. There are about 50 circle shaped cards each with an assortment of images on them. Any two cards will always have 1 matching image. Each player draws a starting card from the deck and they are to memorize the images on it. A dealer will place a card face up and you have to find the image on it that matches your card (hence "Spot it!"), the first to do so wins that card and the game continues with no stopping or turns. This can create a bit of riff raff on who touched the card first, so always have an appointed judge. As the game progresses you memorize them better and it gets increasingly competitive. The other methods of play keep the game fun and interesting.

Non-computer, Social, Playful Game
We also have the original Spot it but had to get this for child who loves hockey. He's six now and has been playing it since he was about 4.This NHL version freshens it up and is fun if you have the team logos memorized or not. I'd guess that the game helps children develop visual recognition to recognize letters, numbers and shapes to start interpreting the world. May help aging mind stay sharper, sometimes he's faster than I am, darn it.. now what was I saying? It is a fun game for parents too, to spend time and be playful with their children. We also play, Chutes and Ladders, Gobblet, Battleship, Hi Ho the cherry-O, etc.We took it to neighbor's house where lots of kids play and the other 6 year olds caught on pretty quickly.Nice non-computer, social skills developing, learn good sportsmanship, playful game. Enjoy the original or special edition versions.

Great Game!
I love these Spot it! games. I am a grandmother of five and the ages range from 4 to 12. I like having games at the house that are not electronic. I like to show the grandchildren that you can have fun while interacting with each other instead of a computer. Plus it is nice to find games that appeal to different age ranges. My grandson and I had tons of fun playing this quick pace game. Initially it is not easy to spot the match; but as you play your mind realizes the match may be small or large. That fact makes the game more challenging therefore the 10 year old enjoyed playing. I like the Spot it! games as they take up so little space. I can keep a stack of these on hand in a drawer in the family room for a quick game with the grandkids.I would recommend this game for parents and grandparents.

I'd give it 6 stars if I could
My sons received this game for Christmas and have played it daily, multiple times a day for the past week. It's a simple game but very appealing to the 5-10 yr old set. Both my boys play hockey and LOVE the theme of this game. For some reason the kids just really get a kick out of all the team logos in it. And a week into it, I now know all the team logos too! It's a nice portable game too, so we have taken it on hockey roadtrips and it can be played in the car or at a tournament between games. I'd highly, highly recommend this for any young hockey fan.

Fun-filled game for all of the hockey lovers in your life
Our family loves the original Spot It game, and we are also big hockey fans. So, when I saw this NHL version I bought it for my 11 year old son. It's 5 thumbs up in our household. I wondered whether my 6 year old daughter would be able to participate in this one since she doesn't know the NHL logos or technical terms for the gear, but she picked it up in no time and can beat us all. A great game to throw in your bag or in the car to amuse children.

Spot it! games are excellent - NHL version is fantastic!
I bought this game for my brother and his family because they love hockey (as most of us Canadians do). They know all of the team logos very well, so I was often embarrassed when I had to point at a logo and say this team matches this one on my card... So much fun to play, even if you don't know the teams or logos. All Spot it! games are excellent value for re-playability, and they are great for playing with a wide age range in the group.

Fun, quick game.
Fun for hockey fans. It's great because it doesn't take long to learn one of the game variations, and can be played very quickly (under 10 minutes).

Best game ever for NHL team recognition!
Best ever hockey game. My grandson age 5 knows all the NHL teams due to this game. He is now 7 and we still play it.
