One of my new favorites!
I love cookbooks, and despite having 1,000 or so, there are a handful of favorites that I reach for most of the time - and "300 Best Chocolate Recipes" is undoubtedly going to be one of them! I picked up the book while perusing the latest batch of closeout cookbooks at Ollie's, and figured for $4.99 it was worth giving it a try.A friend of mine requested a carrot cake, and - since I always like to make things that are a bit out of the ordinary - I decided to make the "24 Carrot Cake" recipe on page 100. Oh my goodness!!! This cake was amazing! I made it as cupcakes (I got 36 cupcakes, which I baked for about 22 minutes and doubled the frosting recipe), and they were a tremendous hit. Most carrot cake is heavy and dense, but this one is almost ethereal...very light and moist. (I confess to downing four of them myself...purely for quality control purposes, you understand - I couldn't believe that any subsequent ones would be as good as the first!)This is one of those rare cookbooks where I want to make almost everything in it, and haven't come across a bad recipe yet. Many of the recipes are unique, and I haven't run across any that require hard-to-find or weird ingredients; the Chocolate Chai Snow Cones are next on my list.Even though I paid very little for this book, it would still be a bargain at 10 times the price - if you love chocolate, don't hesitate to add this gem to your collection!

Awesome everyday cookbook
I bought this book right when it came out and thought it was going to be just another dessert cookbook. Boy was I wrong. Every recipe is delicious and fun to make. Throw away those brownie boxes, the Double Fudge Espresso Brownie recipe is not only fast to make but easy. With bulk shopping, I always have ingredients on hand to make a dessert at the last minute. Looking for a crowd pleaser? Try the Porte Torte. It is decedent and classy. Yes, I have many dessert cookbooks, but this is the only one I pull out.

Unique, creative & approachable chocolate recipes for all
I came across Julie's book while researching recipes for my wine & chocolate pairing classes. Not only is it a unique and comprehensive collection of creative recipes, but it's also filled with practical information that's a value to everyone. The beauty of this particular book is that you don't have to be an accomplished Swiss chef to apply the recipes, but even if you were, your imagine would still be stretched. Cheers to Julie for her outside-the-chocolate-box contribution to recipe possibilities. Fortunately my research was accomplished as well--I found quite a number of her culinary concoctions perfect for pairing with wines!
