Perfect for close quarters combat training.

We adore this little house! My daughter was just starting to pretend play when we got this for her and she loves it. It's small enough she can carry it around and play where she wants. I'm not a fan of HUGE toys so I prefer this to the big, honking dollhouses that take up half of a kids bedroom (or my living room when she decides they need to travel).The little characters and furniture that Calico Critters makes is just DARLING! So much better than Barbies for the 3-7 age range (and even older), in my opinion.There are some very small pieces (the food and dishes) that I have put away to save until she's a bit older and I don't have to worry about her putting them in her mouth. The furniture pieces and the doll itself are not a problem. Also, we have managed to not break anything, which is kind of amazing as our children can be very rough on toys.We love this set!

I recently bought this small Calico Critters starter house because my daughter wanted to have a Critters "vacation home" in another part of our house. (We started collecting Sylvanian Families/Calico Critters items - like furniture and food - about four years ago. They reside in a "traditional" dollhouse instead of a Calico Critters one.) I bought it on a lightening deal, so I paid a little under $20 for it. The house is just fine and seems durable. It came fully assembled with the exception of the ladder, which can be placed anywhere on the second floor's edge. A junior size rabbit came with the house, and she is nicely dressed in a typical kind of Calico Critters dress. The surprising part of the accessories was the furniture, dishes and food. The quality was terrible compared to other Sylvanian Families/Calico Critters items I have purchased in the past. The furniture was really lightweight and seemed flimsy. The bedding wasn't sewn well. Some of the dishes/kitchen items were painted poorly. With our older items, we never had these issues. We ended up giving away most of the accessories because we had plenty of furniture and food from our main dollhouse. So, would I recommend buying this house again even for a less expensive price? Probably, but with reservations. Even though the house is fine, the quality of the accessories is definitely not what it used to be.

This is a nice Critter starter house. I bought a livingroom set to go with it. The table and chairs are kind've big, so I left them out except for the bench so there would be room for the livingroom. The bench is their kitchen table. There was plenty of room upstairs for furniture. Amazon did a great job packaging the house and furniture set carefully in the box and shipment was very fast.

We have acquired a lot of calico critter stuff since my first purchase when my daughter was 2. We now have two little daughters, age 2 and 7, who both love calico critters. I didn't buy this house until just recently, because it is so little. However, don't let that deter you. It has lots of play potential, and I wish I had purchased it earlier instead of the store or restaurant that we have. Though the other pieces are adorable, it is the houses and furniture that end up getting played with most. And here is a tip for those who feel that calico critters are overpriced (I agree): Try to purchase ahead for birthdays, etc., at Christmas time. Most of the larger pieces are on sale for 30 to 50 percent off at some time over the holiday season. Amazon and Toys R Us both have great sales on these at that time, you just have to keep checking back until the item you want is on sale. And don't forget to check Amazon Warehouse Deals. I have never been disappointed with a purchase there.

I got this house for my nephew for Christmas. I loved that it has all the elements of a doll house, but isn't pink and overly girly. I picked the koala family to go with it, but many of his lego toys and dinosaurs have taken up residence in the home as well. Well made, and sturdy enough to hold up for when the dinosaurs get home from school. :)

I am very happy with this toy! It does not feel "cheap" and is reminiscent of the old fashioned FP farm back in the 70's and 80's. It came with everything pictured, including one critter. The dimensions are a bit small to add much more furniture, so take that into consideration when purchasing the cozy cottage. There are a LOT of furniture choices when adding to your collection. Also; if you plan on buying a kitchen set, you will end up with multiple pieces. All in all, this purchase was money well spent.

My daughter wants the calicer critter collection but I had to make sure that she would like it before I got her the bigger pieces and sets. She is 8 almost 9. She loves it!!! It was a hit and honestly I love them too. She will have the biggest surprise on Christmas when she opens the rest of her new collection!
