Avedis Zildjian CompanyK Custom Hybrid Hi-Hat Cymbals - 14.25 Inches

I gave this some time of playing before writing this review. I usually play a bosphorus antique hihats 14", medium weight, so this comes from a funk and jazz guy perspective.The Pros:- They look like the most expensive set ever- The chick is loud and penetrates very well- It has a great stick definition- Sits in the middle spectrum between bright and dark with clear penetration- Jack of "most" trades- The bell has a nice clear penetrating ping, something like a triangle sound but much louder maybe used for sound effects or variation.- The mirror finish area is good for accenting 1/32 notes.The Cons:- It is quite bright in chick and stick for jazz and lacks the funk classic sound- It lacks the warm dark trashy sizzle when played half openBefore I bought this I felt the bosphorus medium was 100% jazz sound and feel and 90% funk hats, probably thinner weight would have been best for funk. I bought this due to reviews and being best in class and I liked getting a fancy "K" ;)..I will use this in live situations for rock, disco and big band jazz.. the loud types. I will keep the bosphorus for combo jazz, medium to soft passages and all recordings; since i prefer darker sounds.

great item just as i ordered. i was a bit unsure at first but since iwas accustom shopping on amazon i gave it a shot and it was worth it. item was loved great quality and great product. would reccommend a gift for drummers. it a must have

Great price and even better sound. These hi hats have a wide range of different sounds open and closed and literally are the best sounding hi hats I have ever heard.

I thought I'd use my 1980s Zildjian New-Beat hi-hats forever, and stumbled across these at the local store. I'm a little conservative with appearance on cymbals and so, with the "sound edge" bottom and the hybrid finish top, initially I didn't even consider taking a stick to one. Then I thought, "ah give it a go - see why they are so pricey".Needless to say that 30 minutes later I was carrying them home. Amazing sound, strong "chip" from the pedal, without being too dominating, and an incredibly rich sizzly sound from the main body and the best swing style open/close warmth I have ever heard from a hi-hat.Then, move up into the shiny zone (I'm sure these things all have good tech names), and the sound becomes cleaner, stronger and has a very defined and powerful cup/bell.What an immensely flexible instrument and one that tops my new-beats in all regards.First class product Zildjian! I bought the box set here on Amazon with these hats, the 17" crash & the 21"ride. They are all awesome, but the main reason I wanted to purchase was for these hi-hats. They have sucha great chick. Warm & dark, complex & clean! Great hats!

Very, very pleased with these hats! Exactly the sound I was looking for. Powerful but also tons of touchy, crisp, soft tones. You can get so many different sounds out of one set of these hats! They also look great too. Worth the money, for sure.

The cymbal is as expected. It's beautiful and very shiny (for now!). It has fast action and a noticeably higher pitch than my 14 inch hats. The packaging was a bit nuts. There was a reasonably sized box inside a massive box full o paper (at least it wasn't styrofoam) that could have fit 4 or five of the other box within in.

Just amazing . Sound is incredible. SwitchedFrom A custom to hybird . A bit costly but well worth it.

Superb sound. A wide range of sounds and a beautiful bell ring. but then this is a top of the range Hi-Hat. what does one expect from something that costs about the same as an entire drum kit. Ok half the cost..
