Would recommend and will look for others by this author
I have not quite finished but can give a review. This is he first time I have read this author and am very impressed. The story line keeps you guessing all the time and then turns towards the end. Would recommend and will look for others by this author.

Brilliant.
I love Susan Lewis's books and once again this didn't disappoint - I always look forward to her books and I have to sit and read every minute I get when I have one of her books. It was sad and the characters so real.

Sad, but riveting
Intriguing characters. Couldn’t put the book down. Ending was not a total surprise. Minor plots not well developed throughout the story.

Great change of pace for me
Wasn't expecting the culprit(s) at all! Great change of pace for me...had a hard time putting it down. I enjoyed the writer's style and definitely recommend. Be ready though...it's a sad story because these situations happen every day.

I've Found a New Author to Follow!
Set in a seaside town in the UK, a detective superintendent takes charge of a missing person case, causing her to regurgitate many raw feelings of an incident which took place in her own family. Switching from case to the other, Behind Closed Doors gives the reader an extremely authentic insight into the world of absolute emotional fear and how it affects not only immediate family but also many who were maybe not involved but somehow inextricably linked. To the reader, D S Andee Lawrence is not a fictional character but really there in the midst of the complexities involved in separating truth from untruths, fact from speculation and true emotions from contrived feelings. Many of the emotions are personal to her and leave the reader wondering if she should step down from her involvement and concentrate on the cases which were truly assigned to her.Chapters change from what is happening in one household to what is happening on another and leave with you the question of how such a mish mash of goings on can be separated by the police, to arrive at who is responsible for the teenage girl’s disappearance and what is her present state.I’d been looking for a new author to take over from my favourite who died not too long ago (James Herbert) and have struck gold with the first book of Susan Lewis’ that I have read. As an editor and proofreader myself, I found only one typo, three awkward sentences and a query on the use of a particular word. Needless to say, I will be reading more.

Where is Penny?!?
Quite a good read, though felt like everything took ages to happen! But I so wanted Penny to turn up! Should have added a twist of Heidi actually being penny, but had changed her name! That would have been a good ending!
