Making Peg Dolls and More: Toys that Spin, Fly, and Bring Sweet Dreams (Crafts and family Activities) Hardcover – November 1, 2014

The peg dolls play a really minor roll in this book. There are very few peg doll designs and patterns, and frankly the ones featured are no more elaborate than a quick look at Pinterest will reveal to you and the patterns are few and to be desired.For example, I have seen some amazing mermaid peg dolls online, but this author's solution was to simply cut a mermaid tail shape out and glue it to the back of the doll. Similarly with bunny ears, whereas I would have expected the bunny ears to be sewn into a hat onto the head or the tail to be sewn into a 3D clothing design sewn onto the doll... Make sense?However! There ARE a few projects that DO make this worth purchasing in my opinion. The dragon rider marionette is adorable! I also really like the flying bird marionette. There is also a snail rider that is technically sewn onto a felt page but with a few modifications it can be free standing also.The other projects of this book include felt tapestries to play with the dolls on, I am not really interested in this, I prefer freestanding designs for a dollhouse type setting. But you might like it.The peg rider marionettes almost make up for the books other shortcomings because those designs are so fun and unique. It's certainly the only reason I decided to keep the book.Otherwise, if you are not creative at all and have no experience with peg dolls or paint or felt or sewing this might be worth your while.

The reviews for this book were a tad misleading- I have previously purchased her original peg doll book and I thought this would be more of the same (awesome ideas) and it is actually quite a bit different focusing more on background, scenery and playspaces. It does have some new peg doll ideas just not what I had in mind for the "& more."

Finally got the second book. These peg dolls are so much fun to make. I can't wait to get started with this book. The only thing I didn't like was that some of the projects were repeats from the first. I would've liked different projects added.

Margaret Bloom has done it again with another superb book! Buy it....you will not be sorry especially if you enjoyed her first book! The projects are delightful....actually all of it! Just love it and am enjoying it!
