Smart Power that makes Home Theater Components Play Nice
This smart power strip does exactly what it claims to, and from a trusted name in power. APC markets this unit for home office use and many of its features are aimed at computers, but I'm using mine to manage power for my game room set up. I also have this unit plugged into an APC LE1200 Line-R 1200VA Automatic Voltage Regulator.MANAGED DEVICES:1. LG OLED C1 4K TV plugged into MASTER2. LG SP9YA 5.1.2 Ch Dolby Atmos SoundBar plugged into CONTROLLED BY MASTER3. Apple TV 4K plugged into CONTROLLED BY MASTER4. Xbox Series X plugged into ALWAYS ONI have my Xbox Series X configured to turn the TV on/off when I power up or power down the game system using the wireless game controller.Though the TV and soundbar are both LG and fully compatible, the soundbar would sometimes not power up when turning the TV on. Auto Power On/Off is set to ON in LG's separate LG Sound Bar app so the soundbar should have turned on/off with the TV, but the feature didn't work consistently for me. Frustratingly intermittent, sometimes it'd fail and other times it'd work perfectly—even when turning on the TV by itself using its own remote, not through the Xbox. I'm guessing it's a bug with LG.With the APC P8GT smart strip utilized as described above, everything now works as intended every time I power the system on. With the press of one button on the game controller, the Xbox powers up the TV, the TV powers up the soundbar, and all devices are automatically set to the right inputs every time. Powering down is just as effortless and the APC now cuts power to the soundbar when the TV turns off, guaranteeing a perfect system restart the next time I play—making me a very happy gamer.Whether you're chasing ghosts in your machine or not, this smart strip should meet your needs if you're in the market for one. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Works as advertised - good brand
I bought this to turn off my Roku box and sound bar when my 2 year old 65" Sony Bravia LED TV is turned off. The short review here is that it works as advertised where another brand did not. My TV is plugged into the Control outlet, and my Roku is plugged into one of the controlled outlets. When my TV is powered off, the controlled outlets also lose power as they should. I also tested the always-on outlets, and they continue to have power regardless of whether the TV is off or on, as designed. I've only had this product a few days, so I cannot comment on the long term reliability. However, I did try this device after buying and returning another brand (COLEMAN CABLE 049498906 Wireless 6-Outlet Smart Surge) because I'm guessing my TV drew too much electricity when powered off - which meant the controlled outlets always had power - or the unit was simply defective. For these units to work correctly, they have to see a difference between a powered off device and a powered on device. The Coleman Cable Smart Surge did not work for me and my TV as the control device. On the other hand, the APC unit reviewed here has two settings for the controlled outlet (see pic), and I believe this makes the APC unit better suited for a broader range of applications, including mine. I also know APC is a great brand when it comes to power distribution and backup, as I have two APC UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies) units that have been rock solid for a few years. I would recommend this product based on the fact that it has a selectable switch for the Controller outlet to support a broader range of devices, and the APC brand itself.

like the Intel NUC
works almost as expected. If you have a mini-pc make sure that you use the "netbook" setting, even then the power draw may be too low to activate the outlets. I had to use a splitter, and add a 2nd device (cordless phone) to the Master outlet to generate enough current draw to activate the switch. APC needs to makes some adjustments so this device will work properly with the new very low power nin-PCs, like the Intel NUC,The first one I got, did not work properly. It NEVER turned off. Even when there was NO computer plugged into the Master.called APC support and they shipped a replacement at no charge, and supplied a pre-paid shipper for the defective device. If you have a mini-pc make sure that you use the "netbook" setting/ even then the power draw may be too low to activate the outlets. This is Awesome!
This is an amazing device. I don't care that it's a surge protector, what's amazing is this. I was looking for something that when I put my laptop (Asus) into sleep mode (not hibernate) all other devices I am using would turn off together, amp, speakers, subwoofer, cooling fans.Amazon sells these other trigger 5v switches and such and I have them also, they can't work with Windows as only Hibernate would kill a USB port for them to work but Hibernate in Windows cause devices to not be re-initiated like an external DAC.So I was on the search for something else but had no idea what. I came across this APC power saving strip with a load trigger switch and it does the trick perfectly! Awesome product! There is nothing else like it that I was able to find that does this with Windows 10 sleep mode!Update: 12/25/2023Unit stopped working to trigger off. Now it's just a fancy multi port plug. Will ever buy APC again.
