Bitcoin Money: A Tale of Bitville Discovering Good Money

9 year old daughter loved it and Bitcoin Rabbit Hole approved!
I've been in the bitcoin rabbit hole for a while now but keep dripping information to my two kiddos. Both of my kids have used some of their allowance to purchase bitcoin but I really didn't feel like they truly knew why it's so important to diversify. Now, you might say it's too early for a 9 year old and 12 year old to learn to diversify but I would argue it's never too early. I worked in the banking industry for 10 years and you would be absolutely shocked how many adults truly don't understand how finance works even in the slightest bit. To ensure my kids at least have an idea, we started them at 7 years old with allowance. They have understood how taxes work because if you have $5 and the item is $5 that means you do not have enough because of taxes. We are in the store and they ask can I get that, they know my first question back is did you bring your money and do you have enough money because you can answer can I have that by yourself. Needless to say we have had some interesting stares when people see little kids contemplating taxes in the middle of a toy isle lol.Now to the book, I've read many books on Bitcoin and if you're looking for an adult book to read PLEASE read The Bitcoin Standard because it's honestly one of the best books I've ever read. It's truly a masterpiece and even though it only has 10 chapters, bitcoin talk doesn't start until chapter 8. My point is, I'm very familiar with bitcoin so when I heard people recommending Bitcoin Money: A Tale of Bitville Discovering Good Money, I was very intrigued. I received the book yesterday and immediately opened it up to read it so I would have an idea of what I'm about to hand my kids to read. The book does a fantastic job by simplifying it into terms that is easy to understand. You have one girl with a lemonade stand, a boy that mows lawns, an artist and they give examples of the money they use and the problems they face with that money. It walks you through old time money up to gold coins, then to the money printer going brrrrr, then why bitcoin can help us go back to hard money. The most exciting part was my daughter said in 30 minutes or less, I read it, I'm done. I said how did you like it and let's talk about it. She started going through the whole book and we talked about why printing money devalues what you have in your hand, etc, etc, etc. It was an amazing conversation and that conversation alone was worth the price of the book!I definitely recommend this book for kids but also for parents who are brand new to bitcoin but not so keen on the tech side of it.Have a great day everyone!

A perfect introduction
Bitcoin is a complicated system from both an economics and technical standpoint and many of us have a hard time breaking it down for that "elevator pitch." This book wonderfully presents the ideas in a way that touches all of the bases and gives kids a strong foundation in hard money. But maybe best of all, it's a great way to introduce parents to these ideas since the economics presented in the book are rock solid in addition to being easy to grasp.

Excellent primer for children!
This charming little story of the kids in Bitville explains concepts such as barter, money, [fiat] currency, and inflation/corruption, as well as how Bitcoin solves all these problems. It even brings up the issue of sh*tcoins (copies of Bitcoin that don't have the same value proposition as the real Bitcoin) -- without using that word, of course. I look forward to reading this with my kids, and I'm sure it'll spark additional questions that will lead to more in-depth teaching opportunities!

Great book for kids +
My 7 year old loves reading this book to us at bedtime. Great reading level for a 1st grader with a few challenging words for them. The content makes it easy for anyone to understand the evolution of a monetary system. My wife even commented that she loved the book and was able to better understand bitcoin from having no btc understanding prior.Highly recommend!

Missing Proof of Work
This book is a fantastic intro to the problems with our current monetary system and a simple explanation of how Bitcoin solves those problems. It's a quick read fit for children or adults. I especially like how the children's names tie in to their real world counterparts (Goldie=gold, Freddy=the Fed, Kenny=Keynes, etc.) I didn't give it 5 stars because the story doesn't contain any reference or explanation of the proof of work required to mine Bitcoin and validate transactions. I believe this is perhaps the most crucial element of Bitcoin, the bridge between the physical and digital world. Instead it focuses on the distributed ledger system, which is also key. Despite this, it's still well worth having on your bookshelf!

This may be written for kids, but it's GREAT for adults too
I bought this book to read to my kids. As I read it I realized that MANY of my adult friends would greatly benefit from it too. I highly recommend it to everyone who doesn't know much about bitcoin. It touches on fiat currencies and how they can fail, trade/barter, printing money, and why bitcoin was created and will succeed all in a way that kids can understand.

My Kid’s First Crypto Book
I liked this book, as did my grandson. It provided a great way to explain Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. As a trader and investor in crypto, my grandson would frequently ask me about it. Bitcoin Money: A Tale of Bitville helped him gain a better understanding of what I had shared with him before.

Picked up some to share too
Great for the little ones. Had my kids read and write a summary. Got some good reports on it. Also bought one to give to a buddy's kid. After she is done I am sending her some sats. Had her Dad download a wallet to accept them. He and his wife are Orange Pilled now. How cool is that?
