Worth the money and very modern looking
This was the best Newton's Cradle I have purchased. I bought a cheap $10 that maybe swung 15 times. This one is much heaver and worth the money. It lasts a lot longer and swings for a couple of minutes at a time. If you are looking for one that works really well, this is definitely the one to go with.Update: I have had this for a couple of weeks and is still as fun as before. This cradle is heaver and is impossible to break. Some of my friends have commented on it and love it. My little brother has autism and he enjoys playing with this when he comes over. He can watch this thing for hours and it also soothes him when he is upset. This is a great stress reliever and distraction if you need it. It really is worth it and will probably move with me throughout my life.

Highly Recommend!
I purchased this Newton's Cradle for my engineer husband 2 years ago. While it may seem pricey, it's definitely worth the cost. Cheaper models will not function correctly, as they are too light-weight and flimsy. This one has a solid marble base and the balls have a good amount of weight to them, so they keep clicking the way this cool invention is intended. My son thought it was so cool, he asked me for one just like it for Christmas. An engineer in the making? This is a great addition to a professional's office or even a youth bedroom. It's not just cool looking, but it will keep you watching in fascination at how it works. Really unique and a great gift. Highly recommend!

disappointed
Was disappointed with strings on the cradle as did not work as it should have...the base was good quality but the cradle didn't work as it was intended to.

Very nice appearance/sturdiness but imprecise build for the price
Although a very sturdy Newton's Cradle that looked quite nice with the marble base, the one I received had tiny gaps between two balls, one at each end, and that was enough to allow more sloppiness in the action/reaction of the balls than should be allowable in a product at the $52 price it sold for, which I now seen has come down a little. Others have reported excellent ball alignment and contact, so there is just some inconsistency in the precision of the build. Reluctant to keep it because of the high price and not really wanting to exchange it since I might have to go through several exchanges before finding one that was built well, I chose instead to buy the "Swinging Wonder" Newton's Cradle which was a wood frame design, larger, and less than 25% the cost of this one. Both are very nice in appearance but just different for obvious reasons....do you like marble better or natural wood? The larger size/width of the Swinging Wonder may be too big for some, but has the advantage of an adult-sized hand still being able to easily reach in from one end of the cradle to grab one or more balls. That is more challenging with this smaller cradle, where a two-handed approach from each side is better used. Finally, this design seems to have the balls permanently positioned on the nylon lines from which they are hung, such that if any are not in alignment with a common axis through all the balls, then you'll be unable to correct that and the balls will be more prone to sloppy actions. The Swinging Wonder looped the nylon line through tubes attached to each ball, thus one could carefully adjust the ball on the line by loosening the loop from one end and then tightening it from the other. I chose to return this Marble Base Newton's Cradle for the imprecise build and sloppier ball action that should not exist at this price point. The swing time for the balls, during the period an audible "click" is heard and the action/reaction effect can be seen was usually no more than 20-25 seconds. I've read others talk of times up to two minutes, but even in a precisely built Newton's Cradle, you're not going to see such times. At best, the balls might continue swinging as a group for as much as two minutes, but the effect demonstrated by the cradle will have long passed around the 30 second mark, if that. The balls are also very prone to sloppy actions if one is released from a very high angle or more so if the same is done with multiple balls.

Very good, heavy, well built
This is one of the best Newton's Cradle sets I have seen. That being said, there is a little extraneous movement in the bounces. The balls are well aligned, but when a single ball is dropped, along with the ball at the opposite end moving, the remaining balls exhibit significant axial (not lateral) motions as well. This may be due to inelasticity in the steel?I use these for demonstrating interactions between balls while tutoring billiards students. They work well for this purpose.

instead of using glue like so many other cheaper imitations
Exceeded my expectations. The item works very well and it gets many compliments from those who see it. The packaging was very well thought out. The steel balls are heavy and have integral attachments for the string, instead of using glue like so many other cheaper imitations. The action is wonderful, with long lasting repeated swings from either or both sides at once. This newton's cradle was a bit more pricey than others but appears to be well worth the investment. I am an automotive technology instructor and use it for some energy transmission and physics type lessons. My students love it.

Not worth the money
I had this product shipped to me in the United Arab Emirates. I gave it to a friend as a gift and I cannot tell you how embarrassing it was. While it looks really nice and heavy, this product doesn't work AT ALL. The balls go back and forth 3-4 times before they stop. A waste of money.

Very Nice
This was actually a gift for my father. He had originally wanted a cheaper one but after reading many reviews, it seems the cheaper ones with the plastic bases are prone to messing up and tangling up. I'm very glad I bought him this one instead. The base is a nice, solid marble so it sits evenly and works just as it should. My 5 year old nephew often plays with it and even he hasn't caused it tangle. It's worth it to pay a little more for a better product and this definitely is. I'd definitely recommend it.
