Range Kleen SM1720SWR Silver 1289-SM1720SWR Stove or Counter Mat, 20 x 17, 20" x 17"

I bought this item a couple of years ago after one of our relatives burned our kitchen counter top with an extremely hot pot directly from the stove. I remembered that we used these routinely back in the dinosaur age when I was a kid and they protected our counters perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised to find they were still being made and extremely pleased that they work just as well. I placed the mat over the burned area as a temporary fix and to prevent further damage. Temporary has turned into long term as it is still sitting on the counter. The only con that I would give is that it does not sit flush with the counter on all edges. The product is made of thin metal?? material. It has a quilted silver finish with a non slip rubber backing so it does not scratch counter surfaces. It is lightweight so I imagine it can be manipulated to seat better. But as functionality outweighs aesthetics in my household, I shamefully admit that I have not bothered trying this as of yet. I do wish they came in larger sizes (I bought the largest, 20" X 17" which was the largest sold at the time), but all in all this has been a great buy for me. Just remember that this is an inexpensive remedy and not a high end counter protector. That said, if you are looking for something to add lots of beauty to your kitchen, this is not for you. It's just a simple silver mat. If functionality and practicality take precedence, then this should work just fine. I will include a picture later so you can determine for yourself. The mat was bought in 2013 and has endured daily use so you will see what it looks 2 years later.

I liked the old one better for my purposes, because I could slide it aroung the counter with an applience on it and not scratch the counter. The new one does not slide and will stick to the counter if it gets too hot. I fixed it by cut a piece of cardboard the same size from the shipping box and put down first. Works great, for under airfryer/griddle/ grill and my electric roaster.

Mine arrived with one corner slightly bent. I wasn't a big problem though. It was fine after I placed my large toaster oven on it. It works well as it keeps my counter top from getting hot when I use the oven. That is the reason that I bought it. Can wipe clean if needed.

I have a large counter top oven that I have stored atop of an apartment size refrigerator and I was looking for a heat barrier to put under it so I did not have to constantly take the oven off the top of the fridge in order to use it. This counter mat fit the bill, and works great. I now can use the oven right where it is and the heat is not transferred to the refrigerator.I liked the mat so much that I decided to buy 2 more (one was an 8 x 20 size) to leave on my glass top electric range as a "protective cover" for the glass when the range IS NOT IN USE. They look great, protect my glass top when not in use and provide additional counter space. Please note however, these are NOT range top covers and cannot be placed on a hot (or warm) range top! They are designed to have a hot item placed on them so the surface underneath is protected from the heat.

I have multiples of this heat resistant counter mat. I use them under hot foods that I'm serving, under my electric skillet, air fryer, etc. I've got them at home and at our cabin. I bought one for my son whose counter top seam exploded from heat exposure while using a deep fryer. Now his counter top is protected too. Highly recommend. This brand has been around for a long time and is the only one I would consider for these counter mats.

I have use it before, use it between stove and refrigerator.

These are great for under my air fryer and microwave. I remember these as a kid but then the backing was much thicker than it is now. The only issue I have is it came in a 9 inch deep box that was at least 24 inches long and about 18 inches wide. Too much.

You get what you pay for. I bought this (and another sized one) because it was reasonably priced. They were both bent on the edges when they arrived. Crumpled more than bent, really. I straightened it a bit with some pliers (since the metal is super-soft), but you can still see the bend. I've had these for a few months now and they are beginning to look shabby. My husband got the bright idea to pound out some chicken with the mallet on the mat. The idea is to do things on the mat, instead of the counter, to protect the counter. Right? It smoothed out the diamond pattern, so now there is a part of the mat that is bent inward and flattened. No matter how hard I try, water seems to seep under the mats. As a result, the non-skid backing is now separating from the metal. It is also discoloring (it was whitish and now it's turning reddish). These mats are functioning as expected (they have protected my counter tops), but they are cheaply made and do not look sleek and modern after a couple of months. I wouldn't buy them again.

I used the heat resistant mat to place hot pans, hot dishes and a cup of hot water so as not to scratch the glass surface of my electric stove. The mat is attractive with it silver finish that coordinates with my stainless steel appliances and most importantly, my stove so far, is scratch free. There is only one concern I had about the mat. the back side of the mat has a metal edge which I thought might scratch the top of the stove so before I placed it on the stove, I lined the back edge with tape. No matter this minor repair, tihe mat is still worth buying!

Good size

Product is good for protecting countertops and us a very good price. We ordered 2 and unfortunately one was bent. Doesn’t affect the usage or effectiveness, just disappointed it didn’t come in better condition.

ive had this for years now and its still as nice as the day i bought it. doesnt slip around and it looks sharp on the kitchen counter. great for making sure my counter doesnt get hot from my toaster/air fryer
