Fun for all everyone
A teacher I had read these stories to my class when I was a kid and I loved them so much I got this to read to my 8th graders and they love them too. The kids have to ask yes or no questions to find the gap or hole in the story and it is good practice for them to think outside the box and to come up with better questions. Also you never give them the answer so they have to keep trying for several days if it takes that long. There are only 20 stories in the book. I also read these on a road trip with three other adults and two kids and everyone had fun playing.

but have had fun with the ones we have
We haven't read all the stories, but have had fun with the ones we have. My oldest used these in her APEX class, so I bought them for our homeschool. I believe my 8yo is still too young to understand the stories, but we will definitely use this as he gets older.

very thin, pretty simple
This contains the kind of riddles that go: a man is found on a wooden floor, dead, with no marks on him except the number 18 written on his right hand. The game is to pose the riddle to people who ask you yes/no questions to try to figure what happened. This book is OK, but the riddles are a bit simple (perhaps appropriate for 10 year olds), and there are not a lot of them, only 1 per page for its 20 pages.

Fun passtime, but the collection leaves you a little wanting
Some of the stories were so artificial, they were kind of pointless to play... and it would take so little to make them good. Also, the book is very thin, so it felt pricey for the # of stories in it. When you skipped the bad ones, there were only ~10 that my daughter and I could 'play', so we were pretty much done with it on one 4-hour bus ride. It's definitely a fun way to spend the time, but the collection as such was less than what I expected.

Fun and clever but a bit pricey.
My daughter asked for this book after she was introduced to the "Stories with Holes" series at school. The stories are clever and fun and we have enjoyed them, but the book felt a bit short on content for the money. We probably won't purchase any additional volumes unless the price is reduced.

I was very disappointed. The majority of the stories are about death
My daughter was so excited to get this book after doing some "stories with holes" in her gifted class. I was very disappointed. The majority of the stories are about death. Suicide, murder... Not what I wanted for my nine year old. Also book was very short. We did the whole thing quite quickly. Very cool concept but not worth the money.

Much better stories found for free online
I bought this in order to have something fun to do with my coworkers every once in a while, but these aren't at all creative. Don't waste your money on this and just look up 'minute mysteries' or 'stories with holes' online. You'll find plenty that other people have written for free and are much more difficult to figure out.

Great for students
I use this with my 7th grade students and they love it! The only problem is that some of the stories don't make much sense in today's culture which made it hard for my students to understand.
