Beautiful artwork, fast-paced fun story, awesome characters … loved this book and look forward to more of Santat’s brilliant work.

The book had very little writing and what was there was in very small font and difficult to read. I was disappointed as I like Santat’s books in general

This is one of my 6-year-old daughter's favorite books ever. She got very into graphic novels this year, starting with Missile Mouse, and this was suggested by Amazon as one of those "If you liked this, you'll like this, too" kinds of things... which was dead on. I was a little grossed out by the descriptions of the superhero's peanut allergy and his subsequent trips to the bathroom and gut-gurgling stuff... made me feel ill just reading/looking at it, but my kiddo didn't mind. Aside from that, it's a fun story and has some good lessons (about getting over a grudge, never underestimating someone based on their appearance, and getting your priorities straight to spend time with the ones you love).

My 7yo boy loves this book, and have read and re-read the book 20 times over. Too bad there isn't a series on this book. I would snatch up the series in a second!

Son enjoyed book

This book is a story about family and friendship. Relationship difficulties exist, and are resolved in a way that's realistic but also heart-warming. And it's funny. I think you'll love all the characters. Even the villain is well done enough that you'll appreciate him. The art is great, with lots of detail and atmosphere, with a tone that's generally lighthearted, but that handles sadness and drama well, also.

Our 9 year old has not really been interested in books lately and this got him back into the swing of enjoying reading. He laughed out loud and kept sharing the funny parts with us.

My 8 year old son devoured this book in one sitting. Loved it. Keeps returning to it as well.

L'étatsunien Dan Santat est classé parmi les auteurs/dessinateurs de livres pour enfants et effectivement, un coup d'œil à sa bibliographie via le moteur de recherche d'amazon montre une oeuvre déjà fournie, avec ce qu'aiment les enfants aujourd'hui : des robots, des ninjas, une (jeune) créature inspirée de celle de Frankenstein et - euh... - les trois petits cochons etc. Avec l'ouvrage en BD du présent commentaire, il est question de Harry alias Captain Amazing, un super-héros vieillissant (1) qui récemment n'a pas pu venir à bout de "nemesis" le Dr. Havoc. Captain Amazing va décider de recruter un "sidekick", un partenaire plus jeune qui pourra l'aider dans les missions. Une grande séance d'entretien d'embauche est fixée dans un mois.Dans sa maison bien classique des banlieues aux USA, ce super-héros célibataire et sans enfant a trois animaux de compagnie : le chien Roscoe, le hamster Fluffy et le dernier venu, un... caméléon du nom de... Caméléon. En compétition entre elles, les trois bestioles se mettent en tête de prouver à leur maître que le sidekick qu'il recherche est tout trouvé... Elles s'entraînent à la nuit tombée. Roscoe a pris en grippe le caméléon et va de son côté. On apprendra qu'il a quelques dispositions intéressantes pour le job. Fluffy et Caméléon vont leur propre chemin et ils vont faire une rencontre déterminante qui va non seulement leur sauver la vie mais les former à la tâche qu'ils visent. L'histoire va aller vers un final spectaculaire et rempli de surprises le jour même des entretiens de recrutement et mon commentaire ne le "spoilera" pas ! Je me bornerai donc à dire qu'après la fin, plus rien ne sera comme avant !Bien écrit, intelligent et vraiment amusant - notamment pour les familiers des comic books de super-héros -, ce livre est également très chouette au plan graphique. Si les dessins sont simples, le découpage dynamique, la manière de composer les cases (excellent rendu des distances, perspectives, volumes etc.), et les couleurs variées et créatives favorisent l'immersion comme pour un véritable dessin animé.(1) Harry est à peine quinquagénaire ! Mais pour le lectorat de Santat, c'est évidemment un dinosaure ;)

Awesome book. Simple. Funny. Innovative. Great idea for creative kids that like super heroes. Will check out the other books.

Good story and OK art. I do like it. 3 to 4 out of 5. I would say you can try first.
