good starter book
I bought this for my daughter who is 8. She likes the book and has started a few of the projects. There is a good range, from very very simple to more complicated projects, so it should last her a while. Lots of good information and fun colorful pictures! I would recommend for a beginning knitter.

confusing instructions
Admittedly I haven't done knitting for a long time so perhaps I am not understanding very well, but the book seems aimed at the American market as well, which can be confusing when it comes to sizing. Also, I've realised that the instructions are all aimed at RIGHT HANDED people when I am LEFT HANDED. Consequently I need to adjust the instructions to account for me doing things the other way round! Not very good for a First Knitting Book -

Lovely book
Bought as a gift, clear instructions and easy projects to get going (actually good for adult learners too) all beautifully presented in this book, I think overall a younger child would need someone to help them follow through, an older child could manage alone.

Duplicate of another book
Like this book and bought it together with another one by Claire Montgomerie called Knitting for Children thinking they would be different, however they are almost identical. Bit disappointed as I was expecting something else. It will be useful for working with a school knitting club but it is almost duplicated exactly.

This is an American book
Bought for my granddaughter as I am teaching her to knit. I have learnt a few techniques too! However I didn't like the fact that it is American.

Very clear directions.
My daughter is 11 and loves this book. She has knitted a few things from the patterns in it already. Easy to follow instructions.
