Chilling story full of suspense!
This is one of about three books (and movies) that give me chills every single time I read a review or see a clip. I just re-read it for the first time in years and it was still fantastic, to me!There are probably a few things in the book that overly sensitive people that get offended at the drop of a hat will balk at but, in my opinion, they probably shouldn't be reading horror or psychological thrillers if that's the case.I don't like to give spoilers but this is a book published in 1975 and for me, it very much reflected it, especially the relationship between the couple and their day-to-day life. Then, their lives are turned upside down when a man claims that their daughter is the reincarnation of his own daughter who died in a tragic car accident. I very much enjoyed re-visiting this story and hope to catch the movie again sometime soon. I just realized last night after watching the movie trailer that Anthony Hopkins is a main character! That fact alone should give the movie merit!Hope you enjoy reading about Audrey Rose as much as I have!

How Have I Not Heard of This Sooner??
I learned about this existence of this novel from, of all places, a shout out inside of "Pet Semetary" by Stephen King. I ordered my copy and braced myself for a spooky romp. What I DIDN'T expect was the absolute poetry, the superb vocabulary, the well written legal jargon, and twist ending I got. The book didn't at ALL go to the places I thought it would and found myself completely engrossed in the wreckage of the lives of Ivy and her family. There is a film to accompany this book, staring Sir Anthony Hopkins, that I have not had the pleasure of seeing just yet, but I've heard it's just as good. If you're looking for something spooky to make you think, to make you feel, and to maybe keep your light on tonight, give it a shot. You'll be glad you did.

Stick with it
I remembered this movie from years ago and decided to give the book a try. I'm glad I did! There were some parts in the first half that really seemed to drag, but the author does a great job of pulling all the pieces together and giving the reader a real page turning experience towards the end.

Finally
I am as impressed with this book as I am the movie, maybe because of the movie, or vice versa. Vibrant emotion, thrilling philosophies, an edgy court case... a classic read, for sure.

Very good
I wanted to read a fiction about reincarnation and this story was exactly what I was looking for. Entertaining and educational at the same time. I would have given it 5 stars if it had been tightened up about 40 pages less. A little long in places.

A gripping, unexpected thriller
This book is very 1970's, but I really enjoyed it. Following the fate of the family after this stranger comes into their lives is gripping, and the ending is absolutely unexpected.

A classic that is slightly dated.
De Felitta's classic Audrey Rose was one of those bestsellers that was on every bookshelf in the 70s and felt every household owned a copy. It was up there with Erica Jong's Fear of Flying, Blatty's The Exorcist to name a few.The book starts out with the seemingly perfect existence of the Templeton family and the beautiful Ivy as they lead their day to day lives. It all starts to go south when a man starts following the Templeton family. The cracks start to show and things spiral out of control from there. As the story begins carrying you through the plot of reincarnation and the horrible death of Audrey Rose, you are lead through a minefield of male egos and putting the major focus away from protection and one towards their own selfish gain.As the story turns darker, you find yourself in a man's world where women are fanciful creatures with no distinct voice. Now this maybe a product of its time, but Mrs Templeton's voice is seldom heard or comprehended creating a time warp away from today's audience. As the book was written in 1972, I guess I was expecting a more active strong voice instead of the subservient voice that lists off the pages. Although, out of everyone within the pages, she is the one with the strongest in need strength. The book is very well written and it flow from scene to scene with the foot pressed firmly on the gas pedal towards its dramatic conclusion. This story does not have any real horror elements but plenty of paranormal aspects and metaphysical overtones that leads one to wonder and ponder the possibilities. This is where De Felitta really shines and prove himself as a truly respected writer. Everything is very real. Though the story is steeped into melodrama, the story itself is not overwrought with sentimentality.Audrey Rose is a true 70's classic that should be revisited and discovered as this is the birth place of Modern Horror. Due to the popularity of this book, helped launch Stephen King to the masses as it should there was a market for the paranormal and one that can earn big bucks in publishing. If you want a story to feed your soul and mind, Audrey Rose is the right ticket. I just wish Mrs Templeton was less subservient to the male counter part. This maybe more a product of the times. If this was written today, it would drop a star but as I am viewing this as a product of its time, it's a five star winner. This is a true must read.

Fear too long
What started to be quite promising became so boring half way through with chapter after chapter of court proceedingsThat's when I gave up and to be honest I couldn't care less whether Audrey Rose lived in Ivy Templetons body or notThe chapters were far too long . I like quick snappy chapters and the whole plot just didn't get any whereSorry not for me

Well worth a read
Discovered this book by accident and thought I would give it a go based on other reviews. I enjoyed it. Even though it is over forty years old the story still felt fresh. My only one small criticism with the kindle edition is that at one point a written letter is used to convey part of the story and its difficult to read. However that's a small issue and doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the booj

Thrilling tale that is a must read!
Brilliant book, thoroughly enjoyed this story. Interestingly informative regarding reincarnation and karma whilst being a truly thrilling read. Extremely hard to put down (to the detriment of other commitments!) the exposition chillingly reveals how the lives of Janice, Bill and Ivy are to alter, beyond their control, with the advent of Audrey Rose and Hoover.
