Interesting collection of quotes the author accumulated over his life.Though the quote about "Loyalty" which I was seeking hasn't been found in this tomb yet.

This collection of quotes from other people was chosen by Elbert Hubbard and used in his 'talks' and writings. Although the sources come from many centuries of thought, they were chosen by a man who was a part of his age. For example Maeterlink is quoted five times, a choice not so expected these days, Robert Ingersoll ten times. Entries are well indexed by author and by topic but their arrangement in the book seems to be based on whenever Hubbard discovered them, in other words they seem randomly arranged. A fan of Hubbard or of turn of the last centuries culture will be charmed by them, as by the typeface and layout in this almost-facsimile publication. My eyes have a bit of trouble with all the serifs but they are part of the grace of those times. Since I can't afford a true facsimile with stamped leather binding, I will cherish this paperback for a long time.

The book is an excellent source of old quotes and stories. The language is definitely from the 1800's and 1900's. Some of which I just skim for some nuggets of wisdom and inspiration.

This book I can't recommend enough. I've read every quote and excerpt in it (except poems) and I circled those that I found most profound. I'm yet to find the true significance of many of them. Sometimes I think that when I have to express my everyday opinion about something I could just use any of the quotes from that book and cite it instead of talking to people. I dunno know what else to say...maybe I should use one of the quotes: "The less people speak of their greatness the more we think of it." - Bacon.

I appreciated the quick service from chewybooks through Amazon. They even gift-wrapped. This was a book I had liked that my parents had, so I was pleased to find it available since it is old. It is a collection of interesting quotes.

Elbert Hubbard collected and arranged an eclectic collection of opinions and comments on the widest range of people and emotions, and I have really enjoyed reading this material in a 21st century context.

Recommended by Donald Liberman, a high school friend of mine, and a gem of a writer. A Message to Garcia was his best seller. Try it. Short. 40 million! Sold.
