Love celebrating the seasons with this book!
Absolutely love this book! Creative, inspiring, and most importantly, doable ideas that are fun for our 2 girls (ages 8 and 5)...and for me! I love the way the book is organized by season. Besides the detailed explanations for each art activity, my favorite part of this book are the recipes and the book recommendations interspersed throughout the book relating to holidays, special themes, etc. For Easter this year our family did the crayon resist decorating technique. They turned out so beautiful, but the best part was how much fun our girls had making them. Love this book! We also love her first book...and we hope that there are many more from Jean in the future!

Pretty, but probably going back
I really wanted to love this book because I do love the blog. I am a teacher and work with young children and ordered this to use for ideas for my classroom. I was excited because it spans all of the seasons! However, after receiving this book, i find it to be too heavy on recipes for my taste and the Spring section contains 12 activities to decorate eggs! I mean, it is great that there are so many ways, but 12 ways in this one book seems excessive to me. I will say that the book is beautiful-- the pictures are gorgeous and it is nicely broken into seasons for easy reference. But the amount of recipes (45-- not all for kids to make either) is too many for what I was looking for. This book is likely being returned.

Home-run second book - both are worth owning!
Such a beautiful book! I also own Jean's other book and think it is really worthwhile to own both. There are a few repeat activities, but not many. The intent of both books is so different; her first book is more about process art (exploring art without set expectations) and this book is more about craft (making stuff with more of an end goal). I love her inclusion of recipes to celebrate the seasons, as well as her lists of favorite children's books for each time of year. I love Jean's attitude toward creativity with kids; that openness and excitement doesn't come naturally to me and is a huge help for me in knowing how to create alongside my kids.

Fun Times
Really fantastic! Great ideas for the whole year and for different ages. Everyone likes to do creative, fun stuff! Even if you don't think the older kids will get into it, they will! Even the older older people (adults) will get in on the creativeness. I like that this book expands on some of the things we do for holidays, yet brings in season celebrating too. Most of the supplies can be found around the house or outside. So easy, simple, fun and active.

Wonderful book!!
I bought this book along with The Artful Parent and I love, love them both!! The Artful Year is a wonderful book for any parent, especially one like me, art challenged. I have made a few of her recipes that are in there, like her quinoa tabouli, and they are delicious! I have recommended this book to all my friends.

Fun book
I checked this out at the library first and liked it enough to buy it. I'm not planning to really use the recipes (maybe later), but I like the organization. General ideas (with seasonal variation ideas) & then broken down by season. Something for everyone!

Just what you'd expect from her.
I just received this and haven't had a chance to try any yet but they are wonderful ideas. If you like her first book and her blog, you'll love it. The only disappointment is that there isn't anything for St. Patrick's Day which is big in our house and it's difficult to find ideas for it. Oh well. Still very much worth every penny!

Love this book! I bought it based on a recommendation from a friend. Great and creative ideas with regular household items. Already tried a few different ideas with my kids and I am sure I will reach for it for inspiration throughout the years.

Great book for living art with the family!
Great book, written with a special sensitivity. It offers fantastic ideas to celebrate any special ocasion through the year by doing crafts or cooking with the children. I also love the introductions of each chapter.
