Basically, is a plastic toolbox.
The product looks nice, and I may have given a 5-star of easy install, if I had the right tools; did it the old fashion way; carrying up to 40lbs is questionable, it's all plastic except the mounting hinges and lock-in place bracket. It does come with 2 keys and the anti-swing lock, if desired, also is plastic. The best I can say it's a 90-degree swingout toolbox that can keep honest thieves out; meaning if someone wanted to get into the box, little effort and here in AZ, our summer heat is brutal on plastic made items.

Looked Good … broke
Box wasn’t damaged but was broke in plastic bag . Broken part wasn’t in the plastic so I’m thinking it was packed like this . Pretty crappy inspection before shipping . Amazon replaced it at no charge so all good

Can this replace my cross-bed toolbox? Mostly...
I dearly love cross-bed toolboxes, I've used them for years. I recently (April 2021) got a 08 Taco with a nice camper shell, the cross-bed toolbox I have won't work. I thought two Swingcases could replace it. Does it? Mostly. It's a 'one box fits all' design, with multiple brackets for differing trucks. It's really for a shortbed, my 6' bed has the toolbox arch well behind the wheelwell. Here's a couple of install tips for 08 Tacoma. The basic process is first removing the top back Torx screw of the storage cubby (you need a T30 bit) and reattach it with a corresponding part of the hinge bracket. Their are additionally four holes in the hinge bracket you then need to drill into the side of the bed with (included) self-tapping bolts. Once you have the Torx back in, you'll see that the bracket has a little up/down play. Get it lined up, and used two pieces of duct tape (top and bottom) to hold it while you drill. Do NOT buzz it in as fast as you can. Once the drilling part is done and it gets to the threads, STOP DRILLING THEN! Go the rest of the way slowly, with a hand wrench (7/16", I think). If you buzz it hard, you may strip it out then you have bigger problems (you could probably get it riveted). Just snug each one up, until you have all four holes drilled, then tighten by hand. It's a very clever design, there has been one upgrade. I have the newer, changes I know about, the original cupholder on top could hold water, this one has an open side. The newer one also has a hinge lock that keeps the toolbox from being lifted off the hinges. It's plastic, one whack with a hammer will break it. There is additionally still the metal loop you can padlock. The latch itself is plastic, that's one of the first things that may wear out. Two bolts and replaceable, though. As mentioned, the lid hinges are just ABS bending. People have mentioned DIY hinges. There's Youtube videos of a guy filling it with ice and beer for tailgating parties. A drain would be nice if you did that much (easy to add, probably). So, can it replace my cross-bed toolbox? Mostly. In that I carried larger and heavy stuff that won't work in the Swingcase. I always carry a Hi-Lift jack, and chains, straps, axe, saws. No jack in these. The organization possibilities are pretty good. Heavy stuff in the bottom. The ability to swing it out certainly makes it all more accessible than my big toolbox.

Swing it, just swing it!
I bought this for my husband. At first he was like, what is this? And now, he LOVES IT! He couldn’t have asked for anything more. The best part is that when people see it, they are like what??? And where did you get that? I want one or two. It is better than having the tool truck box that is far into the truck that you would have to get up onto the truck bed and get access to it compared to this, all you have to do swing it out and ta-dah! Great access to what I need and when I need it. It’s also great for FISHING! It’s just right there in the back of your truck! Oh, we’ve had times when we had to remove it because he’s picked up loads of things that he needed and forgot that this may get in the way and it was so easy to take off and put back. It even has a lock! Wish I had another truck, I’d surely get it again. Thanks for a great overall product.

Works. Fits. Not for heavy duty use. Wish the plastic was sturdier.
Works. Fits my Tacoma using existing bolts around factory cubbies on either side, plus 4 new holes drilled for hinge. Self-trapping screw when is easily. Overall easy to install. The space is reasonably useful.Wish the plastic was more substantial. Feels like a few seasons in the sun and this may become brittle.Lock will only keep honest people honest, a thief can easily pop this lock. Fact is, unless you add a small padlock to hinge, a their could lift the whole box off the hinge. But even then you have a small padlock between you and theft. Excellent if you need to store a few non-valuable items: straps, trailer connections, wipers etc. Not big enough for a cross wrench, not sturdy enough for a bottle jack. Although after installed there is a convenient space created between bed and box that can be used to lock the cross wrench in place. Looking for convenience, this is it. Looking for security, get a dog.Would recommend with these caveats. Feel like it is convenient but a little over-priced for what I got. the swing works but didn't need it. Would be happier with a fixed box that was made of tougher material. That's just me.

Fits my 2021 TRD Off-Road LB
The box is well built, fitment is good and the hardware is good quality for price. It looks like it would be waterproof in anything short of a deep river crossing. Because my truck has no storage box on the driver side, ( the order page has a message that says this box is not compatible due to the lack of nut plates that are used in the factory storage box.) Fortunately, access to the bed is easy and installing through bolts with some locktite was easy peazy.

Great bracket design, case swings solidly, and locks in place perfectly.
Good quality case, made of shiny ABS. The brackets are truck-specific, and installed like a charm onto my 2016 Toyota Tacoma. Everything fits into pre-existing holes, and I even get to access the existing cubbyholes without issue. 4 stars rather than 5 because the product is expensive (it's a plastic box, after all), and while the brackets are truck-specific, the box is not: a single model exists, which means that the fit is just OK. Specifically, The box could have been 8 inches longer in my truck, giving me more space than I have now with this generic, fits-all-trucks mold. Ultimately, the product is great quality, the attaching brackets are well designed and solid, and the locking motion is simple, soft, solid. I'm very pleased with the product.
