I purchased these for a fathers day surprise for my husband. While he was at work I would fill these up and freeze for about 2 hours. Then I would use a small syringe and poke a hole into the opening in the top where the water has frozen. Once I got into the unfrozen water I sucked it out with the syringe and replaced the ice (still in the mold) back into the freezer for about another hour. Then I carefully removed the hollow ice ball and placed into a baggie in the deep freezer for the fathers day surprise. I made about a dozen of the hollow ones for him, then continued to make solid balls for other uses. I even made a few with pieces of lemon and lime inside. On fathers day we surprised my husband with a orange juice drink where we had filled the center of the frozen ice balls with his favorite orange juice - using the syringe - and a full breakfast. We even bought him a tiny hammer to break open his ice ball. He LOVED it. Then later that night we made him a cocktail and again, filled the hollow ice balls with that and served him in a nice glass with his little hammer. He enjoyed these so much he has asked to have them for poker night. They did take a little extra time to get the hollow ball, but so worth it. My daughter wants to see if we can use them to make hollow chocolate balls to fill with candy for the kids for Easter. Not sure if that will work but we might just give it a go. Sounds fun if nothing else.

With ANY sphere ice silicone ice maker like this, you will NEVER get a clear sphere. To get clear ice it isn't about the type of water, it is about the freezing container and the speed at which the ice freezes and AIR. This product makes ice balls, no doubt about it. They are never clear, rarely a perfect sphere and are perfect for putting in a drink when drinking alone. if you are looking to impress company, you have to spend the money to get the desired results. I was given an ice ball maker by a friend from www.wintersmiths.com. Their stuff is CRAZY expensive, but let me tell you...PERFECTLY clear ice balls using tap water! Get ready to drop some coin though because perfect comes at a price. Again, this product is good, makes ice balls, just not "hey, look how classy I am" ice balls.

These ice ball makers are awesome! They do take some getting used to-leave about 1/2 inch at the top...otherwise they will create ice on the outside when frozen. Other than that, they are easy to use! Great red color and creates perfect round balls for your drink. Keeps our wine chilled in the sun for about 2-3 hours!Love these and DEFINITELY recommend.

Love them! Love the size, love the design. They well constructed and will be a lot of fun to use. I would absolutely recommend them to friends and family.

The best thing about this product is that they come individual. Most of the silicone ice molds I have used come as pairs so they are not as stable in the freezer. These guarantee a perfect sphere every time.

Love these things. Got them in cleaned them good. Filled them with lemons and water, and added them to lemonade. The kids love it!!
