I have used this only once so far to crack open 3 eggs. One of the three eggs I cracked with this broke on the wrong side which resulted in eggshell fragments falling into my mixing bowl (see photos) as well as the egg contents not coming out of the shell. I was hoping to use this to replace my plastic e-z cracker in an attempt to rid my kitchen of all possible plastic. I'm disappointed so far but, I'm not giving up just yet. The device feels heavy and well constructed; it's a shame the design is flawed and it breaks the wrong side of the egg.Update: I used it again the next day and it did the exact same thing again so I am returning mine.

The only reason I gave it a 4-star rating on "Easy to use": The first egg I tried to crack ended up with the round piston pushing a hole into the eggshell instead of cracking the egg open. Solution: Don't squeeze the handles gently. Crack That Egg!Other than that, it's easy to clean, and seems to do a good job.

My husband and I eat eggs nearly every day so thought this would be faster and better to use than our hands. This crushed the egg shells most of the time instead of cracking them. Was much more tedious and time consuming to use rather than just cracking them by hand. Returned.

Works easy enough, but it does not crack the eggs as advertised. Punches a hole in the side of the egg and does not pull the shell apart. Save your money on this one.

I am disabled and couldn't break eggs anymore so my friend bought me the plastic egg cracker for my birthday. It wasn't great, it punched through the shell instead of cracking it half of the time. After a couple of months the plastic broke so i ordered this one. It cracks the eggs every time, it's actually easier to use, it seems to have better leverage and I'm sure this will last longer than the plastic version.
