The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood (First Edition): Illustrated Classics

An entertaining and fun read
I have seen Robin Hood films but have never read the book. I read it as a part of a book discussion group and we loved it. Although the book has a progression, each chapter could stand alone. There were laugh-out-loud portions and the interactions between the characters were enjoyable. I highly recommend for all males but especially for pre-teen and teenage boys.

Book quality is outstanding--not only arrived in perfect condition but a quality manufacture.
The stories are interesting and enjoyable. However, I would recommend installing an app on your phone or bookmarking a website to translate some words to present-day English. It can be difficult (or impossible, even) to understand certain phrases in "ye olde English" without some assistance.I can't remember the last time I purchased a book of such outstanding quality--the printing, font, binding & covers. And the original illustrations are the final touch that makes this the "perfect book"!

Excellent book for middle school readers
Howard Pyle was an excellent, classic author...who knew he was more than an artist? I didn't. He is an excellent writer with extensive knowledge of the Middle Ages. The book is exciting and fun, while teaching morality as well. Highly recommend!

Definitive classic! Even after so many years!
We approached this in an odd way. I didn't have/keep a copy around so when my adult son and I were watching a bunch of Douglas Fairbanks movies and moved from there to others such as the whole slew of Robin Hood movies, we ended up with the Sean Connery/Audrey Hepburn "Robin and Marion". And I told him that the last scene was sort-of out of the "real" stories, meaning the ones compiled here... because if Thomas Malory is the source of (perceived) truth for King Arthur stories then Howard Pyle is the same for Robin Hood.

Fun and fanciful.
Oh this took me back to my younger days. Fun to read , even if at the 3rd grade level. Kids should read this stuff nowadays.

Robin hood
Quite a few stories about Robin hood. I like that. It's hard to read as it's written in older English. You have to get used to it

Over stated descriptions of illustrations.
Misleading description. Be aware: The description of this book reads, “60 original illustrations. Don’t be fooled by other versions with missing or made up pictures.”This equates illustrations with pictures implying that there are 60 pictures. This is misleading. There are 30 pictures. Some are full page, some 1/3 page some 1/4 page banner type. The rest of the book’s decorative embellishments are line illuminated initials and what I would call dingbats- decorative bits across the top or bottom of the page, or smaller square, circular, and triangular decor placed variously throughout. Though lovely they are not pictures depicting parts of the story

Very nice
Was looking for a Robin Hood book for my library. This one looked great and was a good price. Very happy with it.

Mein absolutes Lieblingsbuch
