Working better than I expected.
My issue I was trying to solve: I have a phone I was trying to charge and pull data from for hours. I noticed that my phone was losing charge instead of gaining or at least maintaining it. There seemed to not be enough juice coming from my router to handle it. I bought a 3.0 cable like this, and it did not solve the problem, it was being plugged into a 2.0 port, but that shouldn't have mattered. Even plugging in the extra "power only" side didn't resolve or even do anything as far as I could tell. So I thought maybe I should just find a 2.0 version. What this cable did for me: Using the same usb cable I was using the whole time to charge my phone, I plugged it into the "data and power" side of this adapter and the adapter into my router, I waited on plugging in the "power only" side in. I watched over a few hours and my phone was actually charging up and passing data. I have tested this for a good week and I have yet to have the need to plug in the "power only" side in. Something in this adapter is doing a better job at pulling power and data from my router.I'm very satisfied with this product. Should the cable not hold up I'll update this review.

Exactly what I needed!
I bought this USB cable for use with a Franklin T9 Hotspot. The hotspot has a tendency to cause its batteries to become "spicy pillows" if you leave it plugged in. It should be able to run without a battery installed, but my USB port couldn't provide enough power to do so. Once the hotspot was under load, it would shut itself off. With this cable, I no longer see this issue, and am now able to run my entire household's internet through the hotspot. It's highly reccomended for any high power USB device using USB 2.0.

Gave me the added USB power I needed ...
2 quick points for those wondering about the use of this cable:1) This cable has only 1 data-transfer connector. The 2nd USB connector is for additional power ONLY. This cable is NOT used to split a data signal between 2 devices. Its purpose is to provide added power to a USB powered device.2) This cable is a USB 2.0 version, which is compatible with both USB 2.0 & 3.0 devices, but data-transfer rates will be limited to USB 2.0 speeds. If you want USB 3.0 speeds, you may need to spend a bit more for a similar cable with a BLUE data connector (instead of both USB port connectors being WHITE).Note: For a selection of similar USB 3.0 versions (currently offered at around $5-7), try this search >>USB 3.0 Female to Dual USB Male Extra Power Data Y Extension CableAlways appreciate feedback ... If you find this review helpful, please feel free to give it a quick 'Yes'. Thanks. My experience:I needed more power for a 1TB external hard-drive than 1 USB port would provide on my old Dell computer (drive would frequently disconnect when in use). The drive is USB 3.0 (powered through its USB connection) but my computer has only USB 2.0 ports, so went with the cheaper 2.0 cable version since my computer ports limit me to USB 2.0 data-transfer speeds either way.Ordered from the only domestic supplier I saw (SKY-LINE 'Best Seller') that didn't have the long international shipping wait time or the Amazon minimum order (or Prime) requirement for free shipping. For their $3 cable price (free standard shipping), they shipped in 1-2 business days and I received it via USPS in less than a week (sooner than expected). Arrived in a padded shipping envelope with the product packaged in a zip-lock type plastic bag.Product quality:I took a couple of minutes to test the cable connectors using a simple USB device with a power LED (I connected a flash drive). Sure enough connecting 1 of the USB port connectors to my computer worked as normal, but connecting only the other connector just powered the device without my computer 'seeing' it (provided power only, no data). This confirmed that the 2nd USB port connector is for added power only, as advertised. I gave each connector a few gentle wiggles while in the ports, with no connection issues noticed. The 2 port connectors were not labeled (Data or Power only), but my quick trial & error showed me which connector was for power only (not that this usually matters if both are connected anyway). I saw no other visible issues with this cable or its connectors. 12+ inches (30 cm) in length, with snug connectors and reasonably thick wires/insulation. The connectors do appear just a tad different from those pictured, but otherwise the photos are fairly identical to what I received.Connected my 1TB external hard-drive and it did the trick (no disconnects since). If your external device needs a bit more power than the single USB port provides, and are fine with a USB 2.0 version, this may be well worth the $3 price-tag.

Addressed my Android Auto issue
It works. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 and a 2016 Mazda 3 with the Mazda Android Auto/Apple Car Play upgrade installed. The car has 2 USB ports and requires that you use the top port for AndroidAuto/AppleCarPlay. Unfortunately lately my phone drained while using it to navigate even though it was plugged in. I'm not sure why it didn't charge but decided to give this a try and it worked. One plug has a red marking on it, use this in the bottom usb port or the one you are using for extra power. I plugged the other plug I to the top USB port. Then I plugged my USB cable into the end. The car immediately recognized my Android Auto and as I drive I watched my phone recharge. Just make sure you plug the right plugs in. Red marked end is power only I assume. The other one is data and power. My only issue is the red marking should be bigger, but I'll just add my own red or white tape to make it more obvious.

No charging to iphone from power side of cable
The power side of this cable provides no power and no data connection (the lack of data connection is expected and normal.) The data side of this cable provides both data and power connection. This is the second of these cables I have ordered from HIGHROCK with the same problem. I returned the first cable and reordered assuming it was an isolated problem. I will wait a few days to return this cable to see if the seller provides an explanation. As it stands now this cable serves as a 1 foot extension cable and that is about it. Before returning the first cable I used it assuming I was getting the extra power from the power side of the cable but when my iphone battery dropped in a similar fashion to a normal cable connection I tested the power side to see if it would show charging. When this second cable arrived I checked the power side right away and again no charging shows on my iphone. I have tried connecting the power side to both a 2amp and 1amp ports.
