SELKIRK CORP 243460 3-Inch Pellet Wall Thimble

Flimsy quality, poor design/manufacturing, and my biggest concern is that I can't get a call back from the seller (Great Household) to answer a basic question: why am I paying the return shipment for a defective part?It's a flimsy sheet metal design without a structural lip. But my biggest concern is: how can someone sell a "3 inch Wall Thimble" (which has a 3.5 inch diameter hole) but the "3 inch Pellet Stove pipe" has a 3.75 inch outer diameter!! Of course I could enlarge the hole with tin snips, but I'm not. The "Product information Technical Details" says nothing about the hole diameter. I did order a replacement Wall Thimble which has a 3.75 inch hole.No problem, I'll just ship it back. But I was really surprised when I saw the return shipping ticket: "postage required"!! Again no problem, just call Great Household and appeal the shipping charge and present my concerns. Left multiple messages Friday afternoon. No response. I even looked up Great Household in New Jersey and can't find additional contact information doing a Google search.It's not the few dollars for the return shipment. It's the basic assumption that a nominal 3 inch pipe would fit in a nominal 3 inch hole! Especially if the parts are specifically for Pellet Stoves. It's also the seller's lack of response and I can't even find addition contact information about Great Household on the internet. I don't care if the return shipping charge policy is an Amazon or a Great Household policy, IT'S JUST NOT RIGHT!!

This wall thimble make a tight seal as the two sides are screwed together for a seamless and tight fit. Once the two ends are screwed together they can then be securely attached to the outside structure and the interior wall. The Pellet stove pipe slid easily through this thimble and a small amount of high temp sealant was all that was needed to make this air tight. The finish on both the outside and inside are tough and durable. I received this earlier than the time that was originally quoted to me which was as added bonus. Living in the sticks in Wyoming make online ordering convenient and the price was right in line with most of the stores. I would definitely recommend this product for all that are looking.

It's not what they said it was !

We were very careful with installing this but it was a pain to work with because it is so thin and the edges are not really rounded so it is VERY easy to cut yourself, which my in law did when he was on the outside and me on the inside of the house. Wear gloves and count on a tight fit.

It is very well made, but It should come with instructions to explain how to adjust for different wall thickness.

This thimble is well constructed and easy to install. It's the hole in the wall that is the difficult part. The thimble screws together to fit up to about a six inch wall. Mine ended up being about eight inches thick. We simply added some additional rolled-up metal and used it that way. One side is painted black, one is not. You supply your own fasteners. Once the pipe is in, seal off each side with high temp sillicone. It works well.

Used for venting a custom, wood burning stove & was skeptical of heat transfer to walls. Burned some pretty hot fires & didn't feel a rise in temp on this or my walls. Pleased with the Selkirk products I used.

Having seen other items like this that seemed cheesy and in reality were, this product was perfect for my pellet stove install project. Well made double wall corrugated steel screwed together inside an exterior wall with a perfect in and outside seal. I highly recommend this product for its price, quality design and double wall construction. I bought all SELKIRK associated parts for this project. ALL fit together perfectly in minutes. Use this product and you won't be cheeseing out on the safety only this product provides!!

Being that its one piece sucks, and the quality is junk, held together with 4 rivets, I was able to tear off the outside portion install and screw outside portion on. Would i buy this again, NEVER!

If you are using double wall insulated 3 inch pipe the front and back wall plate holes are to small .
