Love!
This book is stunning and I love all the photos. A little disappointed because the end of the book cover is damaged. Hint the 4 stars....Overall, it's a great book but probably a hassle to send back! I'm going to keep it and I would recommend this book!

Big book ans high quality images
Nick Brandt has done good job documenting wild animals in Africa. There is a feeling of film as well as medium format he used in these projects, as well as color grading. The subjects them self are also gorgeously looking. Appreciate it.

A most riveting book.
Even without reading the forewords of Nick Brandt, this book is riveting and very often in a painful way. Some of the images are extremely strong and very hard to shake. Add his text and you have something that will scar your soul. From a purely photographic viewpoint, his photos are downright amazing. They are not flashy in any way; all are black and white with a sepia tone with a very high resolution. His pictures spoke to me because I feel they exhibit the soul of the artist, they are real, very real.Last, but not least, the print is sumptuous; all are very matt and are of the best quality I have ever seen.In every aspect, this is an amazing book.

Eye Opener
Stunningly haunting book and had been wanting this for some time. Bought it used and couldn't be in better shape. Nick Brandt's work is unsurpassed and as a wildlife photographer having travelled to Africa many times, this book stirs the soul and his outlook and belief in what is coming is more than disturbing. We must stop what is happening on this continent with the senseless and continued killing of it's wildlife. Brandt is in my opinion, one of the greatest photographers out there.

Everyone support Big Life Org
This is a wonderful book in a wonderful series !! The photos are beyond incredible !! Please EVERYONE give your support to Big Life Org, they are doing Great work !!! Although, I wanted this book, I was excited to see it advertised to be autographed by the author. I was very disappointed to receive my purchase, open the cover, and see that it was autographed to "FRANK". Which is of course, the seller. It would have been nice to know this prior to purchase !!!

Masterpiece!
I received this much anticipated book today and it was all that I expected and more. Frankly, although less voluminous than Genesis by author Sebastiao Salgado, the imagery had a much more profound impact on me on an emotional level. There were no filler images, every image included was just the right amount to convey the emotion desired. My only complaint and it is a major fault for such a great book, was that arrived with corrugated and bent cover sheet. The folks who packaged before shipping did a lousy job of protecting the book on it's voyage.

An amazing piece of work
The third of Nick Brandts books is a treat to the eyes. It is astoundingly beautiful and his use of medium format is exquisite. The book is exceptionally well laid out with images on a single page, which I find preferable to double page spreads. If you are a fan of Nick Brandt I can highly recommend this book, it is a wonderful work that reminds us that the world is moving on (something we will see much more of in his newer books) and that we cannot take wildlife for granted.

Nick Brant's Photography Is As Iconic As His Subject Matter
Getting hold of genuine Nick Brandt books are like getting hold of hens teeth and for good reason. His books sell quickly because quite simply they offer some of the most stunning and superior photography of the natural African world. Across The Ravaged Land offers what appear to be at first glance simple but powerful photography but actually his seemingly simple compositions take the viewer into a much deeper and more moving image. It really sounds pretentious to say his images have the ability to emotionally move but they really do. For any wildlife lover, particularly that of African wildlife, Nick Brandt publications will not disapoint. His books are expensive but they are worth absolutely every penny. from the quality f the overall image to the quality of the print, paper and binding. You can wait a long time for Brandt books to come back into publication (I should know, I waited more than A year For On This Earth, A Shadow Falls) but they are worth the wait.

Amazing photographs by an amazing photographer
I have seen many pictures by Nick and have heard him speak about his work on a podcast which when you see his images, you realise that with the equipment he uses, he has to get very close. The book is thought provoking and captured the beauty and the sadness. His images carry so much emotion

When art, tragedy and hope meet.
I was gifted this via an Amazon gift voucher, having already owned and been utterly blown away by his previous book, "A shadow falls"I look at this book one picture at a time, one picture a day, and that is intentional. This is to say that I have only seen the first twelve or so pictures, but those alone confirm this as a five star book, not that I was expecting anything less.Nick Brandt is simply a photographer of power and passion which are rarely seen in any field of endeavour. He believes totally in what he does, and this comes through in the pictures. It is even more admirable when you realise that (as he mentions in the book) he shoots with equipment which is just about the last thing you would normally use for shooting these kind of shots. He makes it difficult for himself because he likes the imperfections of film rather than the clinical perfection which he perceives in digital photography. This book should not only be a must read for any serious photographer, but for animal lovers and conservationists. It shows a grim reality, but also offers hope through the fact that Brandt established his own organisation to fight what he refers to as the "genocide" of animals in Africa. This is a good example of when great art and conscience meet, and this alone merits the price of the book. The stunning photography is almost an afterthought in a way.Essential and brilliant.

Beautiful photography
This is a wonderful coffee table book. I bought it as a Christmas present for my son in law who is a keen photographer. He absolutely loved it. Itβs heavy, hardback and illustration is just Superb
