I use this with my pistols and long guns. I use a pistol at my home to protect myself and family from harm and even possible death from criminals breaking down my door or windows. Protection for my family is extremely important and reliability of my handgun to protect my family is absolute must work if needed. BreakFree clp is a military spec product that works. For a firearm to be 100% functional, you need something that will clean and lubricate moving parts and not gum up and will protect from rust. Few known substances in the entire world can do all of that effectively. Break free clp does just that. It's the only gun oil product I use. In other words I'm depending on my firearms to work flawlessly when they have too. Break Free CLP helps that to happen. I highly recommend this product, as I have been using it since the late 70's when it was made available for the public. It works, and my firearms don't rust in storage either. I live in Southeast Texas and humidity is always in abundance in the air here. Break Free is the only product that gives my firearms total protection from rust. There are other products out there that claim to protect, and they do, but they also evaporate fairly quickly and they do have problems with gumming up and will also allow rust to form on your firearm. I manage a gym and we use this on our pin-loaded machines as a lubricant on the metal poles the weights glide along. It gets the dirt and grime off as well as makes the machines weights glide better. Works better than anything else we’ve tried! A little goes a long way.

I have birds and they are very sensitive to any fumes. I’m not sure if gun oils/cleaners could kill them but I don’t want to take the chance. I don’t live in a place where I can clean my guns outside so I needed a low odor cleaner/oil and this, by far, has been the best. This is the only product I have found that has virtually zero smell. It does the job and does it well! I recommend to anyone that is sensitive to smells. If you also have birds I can’t guarantee anything but if you can’t clean outside, do it as far from them as possible to prevent any accidental deaths. I know that has little to do with the product but hopefully it helps other bird owners a so couldn’t find much information for it. As for the product, I love it. I love that it does everything all at once, it makes the job so much easier especially when you have multiple guns to clean.

I'm not too terribly OCD about cleaning my guns, so this basically succeeds in my eyes as a one step product. It does an excellent job as a lubricant/preservative and is OK as a cleaner. I clean often, so this works. However, if you have acquired a very dirty firearm, or just neglected to clean it regularly, I would suggest a better cleaner for really stubborn build up and then this product to frequently lube it and keep it clean.Works great on knives, too. I use it to preserve and lubricate an old collectible S&W folder. I cleaned up a tiny bit of rust on a Cold Steel fixed blade and lubed up my EDC Spyderco so it flips open with ease. Excellent stuff!

Great gun cleaner

Been using Break Free since 1980, in the army. If somebody comes up with something better, let me know. I won't hold my breath.

No odor! Like the fact it cleans, lubricated AND protects my firearms.
